The ward was less crowded than expected but was a warm welcome to the two boys who wanted nothing more than a little rest and peace. Wuxian fixed his posture when he felt the constant tug and pull of his skin along his muscles and nerves and whined. His earlier fighting spirit had left and all that remained was a baby in its place.

"Stay still Wuxian! How many times do you have to be told or do I have to call the nurse again?"Lan Zhan's low voice carried through from the adjacent bed. The pair had been placed in the same room and were currently sitting across from each other. Immediately they had been announced as the victors, their master had come over to them and had rushed them to the awaiting ambulance nearby. He had taken the precise actions given the state of the boys and they required necessary medical aid at once.

"But it's sooo uncomfortableeeee, not to mention how painful it isssss!!" Wuxian cried out as he repositioned himself once again. As expected, Wuxian's shoulder wound required a total of 32 stitches and for Wuxian who had never been stitched up before, it was more than a pleasant experience. Moreover, the doctor hadn't given him full anaesthesia since he had already downed quite the numerous painkillers before. They didn't need to overmedicate the 17 year old.

Lan Zhan sighed shaking his head slightly before standing up and went over to Wuxian. He began fixing the cushions around Wuxian's bed so that he could situate himself well without injuring himself further and find some comfort. Wuxian watched with noting eyes at every action Lan Zhan did, not to mention the closeness to each other especially now that both were shirtless and felt giddy inside. He couldn't help but feel touched.

"There, now you do not have any excuse to complain. Please Wei Wuxian, let me be free for a few minutes." Lan Zhan said whispering the last part in earnest as he sat down and laid back on his bed. A slight headache was forming and he was still breathing unevenly but it was much better than before.

Wuxian chuckled at him but decided to give in to his request. It had been a long day for both of them. He looked over Lan Zhan's haggard body and didn't miss the huge now pinkish mark on his chest. The doctor had told them that fortunately Lan Zhan had no infections or inflammation in his chest and that all he would suffer from was sudden chest pains here and there which would clear up in a few weeks with medication and some irregular breathing patterns. He was more than lucky at the outcome and Wuxian was glad that both of them had come through much better than others. Lan Zhan had been given an injection to flush his system out and also pain relievers much to his protests to relax. His thigh cut was rebandanged and it didn't require stitches in the least. Just some salve and proper care would suffice.

Wuxian sat there in comfortable silence, listening to the various ongoings within the ward and kept his eyes on Lan Zhan. He took this time just looking at the boy before him whom he felt a deep connection to and thought of what was ahead of them. He also stared at him simply because Lan Zhan was an extremely beautiful being to watch and extraordinary in every kind of way. He wasn't afraid to admit he was in awe of him.

Lan Zhan turned his head to the right and opened his eyes to meet Wuxian's now dulled, honey brown ones. He had felt someone's gaze on him. A warm, inexplicable feeling filled him when their eyes connected and Lan Zhan knew then he definitely wanted to stay friends with Wuxian for a long time. He was someone he needed in his life now.

"I can't believe we won Lan Zhan, like I knew we could but I just can't believe it. It was the best and most frightening moment of my life but I am happy you were there with me. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else by my side. I have to say it though, you and I make the best team Lan Zhan. It is soo undeniable." Wuxian said as he reminisced all that had happened within the last 24 hours. It was close to 8 pm and their guardians had been called to come pick them up but for now they had this private moment to share.
