CHAPTER 59: VIGILANCE AT HEART

      Wuxian finally confided in Lan Zhan about the feelings he had gotten during that whole time. The two came together to discuss about it as Lan Zhan began to become more attuned. He had not noticed it before but after what happened, he slowly began to focus on it. Nevertheless, the two didn't make it too obvious that a problem was experienced. They didn't want any attention until they were sure that someone was truly baiting after them or something else was going on. They went on as usual, keeping to themselves as they took greater care of their surroundings. Nothing else happened for the rest of the week until Madam Feng came back and Sizhui went back home. It was a bittersweet departure on both ends but Wuxian assured him that he could come over whenever he wanted. Their home was always opened to him. Things  moved back to normal but underneath something was brewing and both felt it.

       A second strike hit a couple days later when Wuxian was called downtown to one of his cloth stores that had been raided and vandalised overnight. The store called him as early as possible and he instructed them not to call the police. Nothing of value had been taken just some materials destroyed and the place turned upside down. That was easy to fix but the reason why he didn't want the police involved yet was due to the writings sprayed all over the walls. The culprit had specifically written inside the building making Wuxian realise that this wasn't some random activity, rather a personal attack. He arrived first with Lan Zhan coming in 30 minutes later. The staff was yet to arrive, the call coming from the morning guard who had found the place in that state. Wuxian made sure, he was totally alone, giving them all a day off and began investigating.

     "Wei Ying," Lan Zhan called out as soon as he entered the shop.

     "Back here Lan Zhan," Wuxian called out. Lan Zhan followed, coming up to him as he found Wuxian taking in the state of the room.

    "There's no sign of a forced entrance. All doors and windows are intact and the alarm didn't go off. Whoever did this clearly had direct access in and out of the store. It explains why nothing was stolen and just messed up with and left. " he uttered as he kept searching for clues, moving past the mess around. He was trying to understand what exactly caused this.

    " What about the workers? Has there been any sort of complains or conflicts between them or you?" Lan Zhan asked though he highly doubted it but he had to make sure. He went to check the other rooms as well as the Cctv videos of the outside. They didn't have cameras within the store to promote a trustworthy ambiance given the store's location but at the moment, it was a major disadvantage. The outside cameras did little to reveal, the culprit fully covered from head to toe as they opened the back door to the inside. They wouldn't be able to get a search warrant with that
at all.

     "There's not much to go with other than the writings and the mess up. Calling the police wouldn't be of much help not to mention, I think this was direct message perhaps tied to what happened a few days ago." Lan Zhan offered as he walked over to Wuxian and looked at the vulgar writings. Most didn't mean anything, simple curses and what not but one stood out amongst them.

        Lightning never strikes the same place twice unless you call it and you have called

     The two stared long and hard at it trying to decipher what exactly it meant. Clearly it was a threat but to who exactly and why? Who would possibly do such a thing at this time? Who was out looking at them?

    "Alright, let's get this cleared up Lan Zhan. Staying in this won't do any good and you still have things to do after this. Don't worry, I'll take care of this. " Wuxian stated worried that Lan Zhan maybe inconvenienced. They were at the last stages now of the AI project, he couldn't lose focus.
