Lan Zhan finally made it to the school just in time as the students got released from their after school lessons. He may have broken a few traffic rules in order to make it but hey, at least he was here; all under an hour. He parked in his former high school and waited to spot the kids.
"Sizhuiii!" he called out once he found the young boy among the crowd. The young boy immediately turned upon hearing his name and waved back enthusiastically, similar to a certain someone once before.
"Er ge!!" (2nd big brother) he shouted as the band ran towards and surrounded him.
"Er ge, you're finally here! Da ge had told me that you wouldn't make it!! I knew he was lying! You would never miss!!" Sizhui exclaimed quite happy. The rest of the guys said their hellos as well before they all got into the car and they drove off.
Lan (Yuan) Sizhui was the last born son of the Lan family born exactly nine months and 2 days after Liu Feng and Lan Qiren's wedding day. His arrival was a complete shock to the whole family as even Mrs. Lan hadn't known she was pregnant until 6 months in when she started showing. It had been an unexpected inclusion yet he somehow fitted in and was the missing piece they didn't know they needed. You can imagine the surprise Lan Zhan got when he came back home after 3 years to find an infant waiting for him along with the rest of the family. It had been a weird transition from being the youngest to now being a big brother but the two had taken to each other almost immediately. Lan Sizhui had fallen in love with Lan Zhan from the first moment he laid his eyes on him and preferred him over everyone else even his own mother. Lan Zhan was definitely his favourite person in the whole world.
The usual noiseless car was soon filled with the over bolsterous talks or robust 16 and 17 year olds. It was the usual trio, Lan Sizhui, Lan Jingyi and Jin Ling. The three had been friends for almost 4 years now and were all currently in 5th year. Lan Jingyi was Sizhui's best friend well, according to him and was always seen next to him. It didn't matter where or when, if Sizhui was there so was Jingyi. Their friendship was strong and balanced as Sizhui was the brains while Jingyi was the rash muscle boy. You couldn't separate one from the other. It also didn't help that they had found out they were actually related. Turns out Jingyi's ancestors and Lan Zhan's family were once cousins around 200 years back. It had made them both ecstatic at the discovery and definitely solidified the two.
Next was Jin Ling...now he was a special one. He had joined the group later on because in the beginning he had been a very callous and arrogant bitch (those were Jingyi's words not his) towards people as he was a single child of one of the highest socialites and family history but had been humbled very quickly when people had learnt that he was an orphan. His parents had passed away when he was just an infant and it explained alot about his behaviour. It was then he found solace in Sizhui and Jingyi and their friendship circle formed since then and had never been broken. They were always together, enjoyed the same activities, had the same interest, lessons and clubs. They were basically the three musketeers of that day and age. One had to be sharp and keen just to keep up with them because they were constantly engaged in one thing or the other. The only time they were quiet was when they were sleeping and even getting them to sleep was another struggle un itself. They were a handful bunch.
Lan Zhan breathed in deeply as he ignored the ongoing argument that was going on in the back. As per the norm, Jingyi and Jin Ling were clawing at each other's throats, bickering bout something dumb as they always did. Lan Zhan had often wondered how they hadn't killed each other by now but it always due to Sizhui's peacemaking skills that kept them at bay and help them reconcile. Otherwise, war would have been experienced.
He let them be, his mind not totally present as he kept thinking about Wuxian and everything else. He pulled up to the Lan estate and drove directly to his mother's house. The boys were going to have their usual numerous sleep over since it was weekend and they always slept over at each other's houses. It was Sizhui's turn today, that's why Lan Zhan had to deal with the adolescents the whole way. They scrambled out of the car, happy to be home as they were tired and hungry. They were always hungry.
