After coming into acceptance of his newfound stand with Wuxian, Lan Zhan came to realise a few things would change with the ensuing days. First of all, only he and Xichen would be aware of this occurrence. He had no intention whatsoever to involve the rest of his family or anyone else for that matter. This was a secret between them and it would remain that way until necessary. Secondly, since this was his first time falling in love, Lan Zhan was going to take time to appreciate and let his feelings grow. He would not act on them just incase it was a bout of infatuation and would dissapate in a few months. He didn't want to be frivolous and illogical especially with matters of the heart. Chaos could ensue and he had seen it first hand of what recklessness could do to a couple. Besides, he wasn't all too sure Wuxian would react kindly to such a fact. In fact, there were many things that were against him so with that in mind, it was paramount to act as normal as possible and keep the blooming frindship between them. And that's what he did.......... well tried to. Wuxian was an avid body reader and could easily spot any differences with him so when Lan Zhan came in on Monday morning, Wuxian cornered him and he couldn't help but falter a bit.
"Something is up with you. What is it Lan Zhan? I can feel you are hiding something," he said as he watched him take a seat.
"What do you mean Wei Ying?" Lan Zhan asked back. On the outside he was his usual self but on the inside he was quivering a bit.
"Mmhhh mmh. Don't try to deny it. I can sense it Lan Zhan!"
"Stop that nonsense. There's nothing wrong, you are just imagining things." Lan Zhan muttered trying to divert the topic.Wuxian wanted to oppose but the teacher walked in right at that moment and he was cut off. Lan Zhan breathed a sigh of relief but didn't miss Wuxian's locked gaze. He narrowed his eyes at him and gave him a one over. Whatever Lan Zhan was hiding, he would find out soon enough. After all, he was Wei Wuxian. And he did pester. All throughout the week, Wuxian stalked and prodded Lan Zhan to spill the beans. He would corner him at random times of the day and went as further as accompanying him to his student body duties and sticking to his side so much so that Lan Zhan began to feel suffocated. Things were getting out of hand and Lan Zhan didn't know how to shake Wuxian off and reassure him all was fine. Though Wuxian didn't buy it at all, he couldn't explain how he knew but he felt something was up and until he found out, he would keep looking. However, by the end of the month his questioning had come to nothing, not because he was giving up but rather, something else drew their attention and this was way more important.
The 1st school term of the year was coming to a close and the summer holidays were about to begin. 4 months of warmth, sunny days, relaxation, exploration and fun for all around. That was the usual habit for most of the populace however, this would not be the case for Lan Zhan and his family. For this summer would mark the significant change that would take place in his life. Yes, it was here, the infamous and most anticipated event of the year; the marriage union of Lan Qiren and Liu Feng. The wedding date had been set to the middle of June as that was the most auspicious day and miss Feng had set her heart in a summer wedding. It had been approximately 10 months since their engagement giving them more than enough time to plan every single thing about this grand occasion.
As schools closed and students wrapped up doing their term finals, Lan Zhan couldn't shake off the feeling of dread and uncertainty as they drew closer to the date. They had about 1 and 1/2 months left and that time would be used to finalise things. Lan Qiren had pushed through that the wedding and reception be held within the Lan Estate. The 32000km compound was more than enough for a whole festival let alone a mere wedding. With that set, all that was left were the importation of Miss Feng's customised dress, jewels, gifts, invitations and arrival of overseas friends and family, food and drinks, decor and design and many other things that didn't particularly interest Lan Zhan even though he was forced to participate in some plannings. One of the ways Miss Liu had hoped would bring them closer.
