The following Monday after school session was probably one of the most memorable day for Wuxian. He walked out of school without a care as he skipped his Arts and Crafts class for the 5th time. He was losing the will and strength to keep on. It was becoming exhausting to stay conscious the whole day without his mask on.
He left school, deciding to wander on before he went back to that prison of a house he called home. Lan Zhan was not around as he diligently attended to his duties as the responsible and stellar student he was. The two hadn't really talked since that day, both of them being a bit resistant and hesitant. A tiny wedge had come in between and it was no longer one sided. Wuxian was hiding and Lan Zhan was standing by....... Not the perfect combination at the moment.
The biting cold wind picked up, reddening Wuxian's ears. It was mid-October and winter was coming. It was already showing its face, the weather taking a turn. Forecasters had predicted that it would be the coldest and heaviest winter yet seen since 1937 and many areas including their Province would not be spared... In fact, they were in the red zone. Wuxian couldn't help but scoff as he wrapped his scarf tighter round his neck. Even the weather reflected his inner state, how convinient. He glared at the group of grey clouds that hovered above before making his way to nowhere in particular.
It became chillier by the minute with Wuxian regretting why he hadn't brought an extra sweater as Lan Zhan always said. He knew he got cold easily. If he had been with him now, Lan Zhan would have probably scolded him while giving him his own sweater at the same time. That was how he was, a mixture of hot and cold love. A sliver of a smile appeared at the thought and brought a warm sensation to him. It was in such moments that his real self could be seen.
He walked a few more blocks before halting in his tracks. A few metres ahead, two, pristine Benz cars stood side by side blocking the road. As he drew near, 4 suited men each came out of the cars and walked towards him. Wuxian's heart began to pound. What the hell was this? He grabbed his bag pack tight as he slowly began to shuffle back in an attempt to run. Even with his fighting skills, he wasn't sure if he could take all of them without the high chance of getting seriously injured. No, he wouldn't take the chance. He made the move to dash when a large hand grabbed him from behind and flung him to the side.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. Our boss wants to have a word with you so follow us quietly or we will do this the hard way." the guarded man grumpily stated meaning every word. Wuxian looked around and knew there was no way to escape. Cursing internally, he gave himself up as he evaluated his possibilities. Given the situation, it was only reasonable for him to obey. He had no choice. Resigning, he was pulled forward as he followed them into one of the car. He was surrounded on each side and with the sure lock of the doors, they began their journey. He had an idea who this boss was and quickly thought of how he would deal with this. No wonder his aunt had been silent the whole time, she probably had instigated all of this. That..... Damn woman. His brain worked double time as they drove in complete silence to God knows where and he contemplated on what to say. A lot of things passed his mind each scarier and more terrifying than the last but only one thing was certain, he would not lose his resolve about Lan Zhan. He would fight for him, for them.
The General Teahouse was the last place Wuxian had imagined he would be taken. His overzealous mind had thought at the very least he would be dumped in an unknown warehouse in the middle of nowhere and would probably be tied to a chair like those main leads in those K-dramas he usually watched..... Yet..... Here he was in one of the most prestigious tea houses in their town. One single cup costed about 6,000 yuan let alone a full set.
He looked between the guards to affirm if they truly were in the right place before they pushed him in, directing him to the VIP room. The whole place wreaked of herbal teas and spices causing him to wrinkle his noes and cough occasionally. Truth be told, he wasn't a fan of teas and being in this place, his head was already aching though he knew someone who would go crazy over this. They reached the top, secluded floor and Wuxian walked into the private, red room where the one and only Lan Qiren sat, enjoying some lavender and rose tea.
