    ~ 2 YEARS LATER ~

"Welcome everyone to the most anticipated event of the year! After 40 years of being Ceo at last, Senior Mr Lan Qiren is relinquishing his seat to his second son Mr Lan Zhan who has been on the road of recovery along with his fiance Wei Wuxian after their ghastly accident 2 years ago. Directors, associates and acquaintances have traveled from all over the world to commemorate this day. More from the studio," the announcer reported as the journalists surrounded the conference hall where the ceremony was being held.

The rushed sounds of feet clamped down on the ground as people moved past across the hall. It was all noisy, everything a blur but the quiet unnoticeable room in the corner of the floor was still and tranquil.

No words were needed as Wuxian fixed the collar of Lan Zhan's velvet blue coat, cleaning it as much as possible - smiling.

2 years...... It had been 2 years of hardships and challenges and a lot of hurdles. They had scars, mental ones, emotional, physical and spiritual ones. They definately weren't the same people as they had been before, losing much of themselves.

Lan Zhan had gone through 13 restructive surgeries for his legs and skin. It had been 75% successful; his face, arms, chest and back restored to it's former stance with little to no scarrage. They had gotten assistance from a Russian biochemist, specialising in cell restructure and mutation and had been the most eager to experiment with Lan Zhan's condition. By God's grace, it had all worked out in the end. Thereafter he had to start physiotherapy for his legs and voice and that had been the most challenging part..... The hardest curve. He had been mute for almost 5 months, the doctors having to install a semi-fluid flexible metal trachea part that reconnected his vocal chords and getting used to it had been a journey in itself. In the beginning, he had sounded very unnatural and broken but as time went on, he slowly came to it and it sounded almost the same as his real voice. With more pratise, it would get better.

As for his legs, it had been the utmost nightmare. The doctors were sure he would never walk again so they kept offering amputation as their only solution but his family had been adamant and that was more than enough to give physiotherapy a chance. Once he had healed from the operations, he had began immediately and the last 1 and a half years had been very hopeful. He could walk now just not fully yet, using a cane to help with the remaining limp but his progress had been tremendous moving from wheelchair to crutches to now a walking cane. Soon, he would be able to stand in his feet once again.

Wuxian had also experienced much during this time of recovery. There were many days he had been hospitalised in the middle of the night because his body would suddenly shut down out of the blue. His cells built resistance around both medication and the donated liver, often attacking itself and had caused doctors to be on edge, everytime he came in. It had almost seemed dim for him until the same Russian specialist came in and introduced a custom made serum which slightly mutated his cells to accommodate the new body organ and system. They also boosted his immunity and injected 2 combative vaccine doses that would alleviate particular side effects he may experience. Other than that, the other thing Wuxian had to deal with was his amnesia. Due to the head shock and the fact that half his brain died, it seemed as though some of his memories had completely vanished. The only person he had been able to recognise at first was Lan Zhan and Liu Feng. The rest came later on but as of today, the memories of his childhood, teen years and part of his life in prison were permanently lost. Doctors could only advise him not to psuh himself to remember, they might come back some day or not.

He would blank out sometimes, completely zoning out as if there was nothing in his head and would have to get shocked out of his stupor to bring him back. That and much more. The physical wounds were healing but the pair were still far from normal. Nightmares and night terrors were part of their routine. Yes, they were going through extensive therapy both as a couple and as individuals but some things couldn't be solved overnight.
