A cold war descended upon the Lan family as days progressed. Anyone with an observation eye could tell of the subtle tensions between the new Mistress and the young Master but they turned a blind eye to it. Even the Master himself had caught whiff of it but chose to ignore. He above all knew how Lan Zhan was and he knew that he wouldn't do anything out of line towards Liu Feng. He was certain that whatever was going on between them would resolve itself. As long as the two didn't outwardly confess to anything or act out, he wouldn't concern himself with it. They would learn and adjust to each other soon.
Lan Zhan went about his duties and routine preferring to keep to himself most of the time. Since schools were closed, he thought about what to do with his spare time. 4 months were a long time and he needed something meaningful to invest in. He thought about various prospects, carefully weighing his options and chances and eventually settled to be a part time Martial arts teacher at the Martial Arts Centre in the town. His teacher had once recommended an open position for him a while back and he thought it to be a good idea. Besides, he knew someone else who would be interested as well.
Speaking of Wuxian, it had been almost a week since they last spoke and Lan Zhan had become a bit concerned. Usually it was Wuxian who kept contact daily with messages or phone calls but recently he had become silent. An unusual trait for him. It bothered Lan Zhan so much to the point he decided to visit Wuxian personally. Maybe something had happened and he was being punished. It was only fair to go see him if that was the case and make sure he was alright.
Wuxian had been huddled in his room the whole week. His whole existence had come into question ever since that night and he hadn't dared go out for the very fear that anyone he would come across would be able to tell what had happened by a mere glance at him. He felt as though the incident was tattooed right on his face and for the first time ever, Wuxian didn't know how to pretend everything was fine. At least not now.
He groaned like a wounded hippo and flopped onto the ground hard, gripping his hair tightly. He was frustrated and irritated and on the verge of losing his mind. His emotions were all over the place and the fact that there wasn't a resolve to them made him even more fed up with himself. He screamed into the floorboards, the soft caramel carpet muffling some of his noises as his body flapped up and down like a fish out of the water. He wanted to run and escape, vanish into thin air and get rid of all these complications in his young life.
"Arggggggghhh!" he growled pounding the floor. All that could be heard was the rushing of blood to his head and how hot his body felt. He was about to relaunch another attack when the door behind him opened and someone called out to him.
"Wei Ying,"
Wuxian had never turned around so fast in his life. He unfolded himself to assume a correct posture but was too quick in his movements that he pulled a muscle in the midst of his magical performance.
"Ahhhh Fuck!"
"Wei Ying!"
both called out at the same time as Lan Zhan rushed to his side.
"What were you doing Wuxian! Are you alright?" Lan Zhan asked as he helped him sit upright. He just witnessed something he wasn't sure he was supposed to see and clearly Wuxian hadn't intended for anyone to see whatever it was. It seemed something was indeed wrong with him.
" I'm fine, the question is what are you doing here Lan Zhan? I thought you would be busy and stuff," Wuxian counteracted as he massaged his side. He had been caught off guard and in his worst moment and now was suffering from the embarrassment plus the tearing pain in his side.
" Why do you even to ask that? Of course, I am here to see you. I haven't heard from you for over a week Wuxian. I was worried something had happened and judging from what I saw, my guess is something did happen. Did you get in trouble with your relatives? Is anything wrong?" Lan Zhan asked as he peered attentively at him. He was really worried. On the other hand, Wuxian was waging a war against himself on the inside.
