"Uncle Miah can we go find a place to look at the stars tonight?"
Mercedes gave Jeremiah a firm look as she shook her head no. He sighed.
"Sorry Aisie.. not today.."
Mercedes gave her kids one last hug.
"There might be bad weather today okay? Just listen to your uncle Miah. He just wants to keep you safe. Love you guys. I'll see you Sunday afternoon."
"Aisie! Jessie!"
They laughed as the twins ran down the hallway with Mariana. Mercedes called after them.
"No hello for mommy?!"
Mariana poked her head back into the living room.
"Hi mommy!"
Mercedes laughed as she ran back down the hallway. She turned to Jeremiah.
"They do know how to get around in here right?"
He chuckled.
"Now why on Earth would I let my niece and nephew wonder around this bunker confused?"
Mercedes's eyes flickered towards the clock on the wall. She sighed.
"I have to go.."
Jeremiah pulled her in a hug. He kissed the top of her head. His grip was tight.
"Please be careful..."
"Always am Miah.."
Miah sighed as she started towards the door. She paused for a moment. Jeremiah tilted his head curiously. She turned to walk towards him. She gently held his cheek in her right hand. She leaned forward pressing her lips into his. Jeremiah placed his hand over hers. She gave him a small smile when she pulled away. Jeremiah returned the smile and nodded. He stared at the door for a few moments after it closed behind her.
"Honey, I'm exhausted.. I just.."
The man shut the front door and turned to rubbed his wife's shoulders. He sighed.
"Believe me. I am too, but the detective said he was going to find her killer... we have to try to trust them.. at least for now.."
The married couple stopped upon hearing something in their home bump. The husband slowly stepped into the living room.
"Who's in our house? You better come out now.."
The man's wife cautiously flipped on the lights. They gasped as they came face to face with Jerome Valeska leaning against their wall. They quickly noted that he had a protective arm around his wife who was leaning back against his chest. The woman instantly ran towards the phone. Mercedes pulled away from Jerome.
"Wait!"
The woman stopped and stared out of fear. Mercedes sighed.
"Please... you don't have to do that..."
The man slowly back up in front of his wife. Jerome chuckled. The man stared at him confused.
"Trust me. I understand the want to protect your wife."
Jerome smiled and Mercedes.
"A wife is precious. Your better half and your entire world."
Mercedes hands started to glow. She smiled.
"I don't need his protection too much though."
Mercedes noticed the woman was still slowly inching towards the phone. Her hands stopped glowing and she stepped forward.
