A Little Sane

Chapter 140

Mercedes set back on her knees catching her breath. She instantly looked down. 

"Oh my God... No.. That's not possible.."

The sound of footsteps caused her to sprint to her feet. She flushed the toilet pretending she had just used it. Jerome walked in to her brushing her teeth. He gently kissed her cheek. 

"Good morning doll face."

Mercedes smiled as she finished brushing her teeth. She smiled after she rinsed and cleaned her face. Jerome raised his eyebrow. 

"Clean, fresh breath. I can now offer you a real kiss."

Jerome chuckled as he pulled her closer. She smiled as her lips pressed into Jerome's. She was still anxious to get an answer about what happened before Jerome walked in. She slowly pulled away.

"I need to run to the store this morning. I'm going ahead and getting that done."

"I went on a store run yesterday doll face."

Mercedes froze. She quickly thought of an excuse.

"You forgot my favorite peanuts."

She turned around smiling. Jerome chuckled.

"You know what, I did. I'm sorry."

Mercedes walked into their closet.

"I'll just go get them. It's not big trouble."

It took Mercedes less than two minutes to walk out of their closet dressed. She quickly stepped in front of the mirror, brushing her hair and then throwing it up into a messy bun. She turned around to Jerome leaning against the door frame. 

"You're so pretty.."

She kissed his cheek with a quickness and hurried towards the bedroom door.

"Why are you in such a rush doll face?"

She laughed.

"I just want to go and get back. No reason. Be right back I promise."

Jerome had followed her all the way through the living room as she grabbed the car keys and out the front door.

"Where's momma going?"

Jerome turned towards Jessie with a smile.

"Just to the store. I forgot something yesterday."

Jessie frowned. 

"If I knew mom was going I woulda went with her."

Jerome ruffled Jessie's hair with a smile. 

"She would have loved that. She was just in a hurry and probably didn't even think about it."

Mercedes took a deep breath as she set in front of the store. She had to pee more than anything, but didn't get the chance at the house. She was glad she hadn't. She rather quickly found what she was looking for and hurried towards the self check out. Mercedes made her way to bathroom making sure no one was watching her. She stood in the bathroom mirror staring at herself. The intensity of having to pee was increasingly unbearable, but she couldn't help taking a minute. She remember a conversation she had with Lee. 

"I asked you to come in for an appointment because we found something in your blood work and tests. We need you to be aware of the risks."

Mercedes was shocked and more than concerned. Jerome's expression showed the same emotion. Jerome gently grabbed her hand. Mercedes turned her gaze towards him slightly frightened. She turned back towards Lee.
