A Little Sane

Chapter 153

"Daddy!" 

Jerome tightly wrapped his arms around Aislinn as she jumped at him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. Aislinn was sobbing. Bruce watched Jerome with fascination. 

"I missed you much Aislinn..."

"I missed you too daddy.."

Jerome let out a heavy sigh. 

"I know.. and I'm so sorry that I started this whole situation. It was a mess."

They stopped and watched Jerome turn to Mercedes.

"I'm sorry.."

Mercedes stared at him for a moment and then nodded before continuing into the bunker. Jeremiah turned to Bruce.

"You guys are welcomed to come in for a few minutes if you would like. We did just do a stressful mission together."

Alfred stepped forward. 

"Mr. Valeska are you offering me a drink?"

Jeremiah stared at him confused for a moment. Alfred smiled.

"Because if you are, I will gladly take you up on it."

Jeremiah smiled warmly.

"Mr. Fox? How about you?" 

"I could use a drink."

Bruce shook his head laughing. 

"Okay okay. Let's go."

"You're okay!"

Mercedes laughed as she hugged Ecco back.

"I told you I would be."

"Momma!"

Mercedes smiled brighter then before.

"My handsome Jessie!"

Jessie hugged Mercedes tightly. 

"Look Jessie! Daddy's back!"

Mercedes looked at Jessie who looked unsure. He slowly walked towards Jerome and hugged him. 

"Hi dad.." 

Jerome gently patted Jessie on the back. 

Bruce looked around and noticed that Jeremiah had slipped out of the room. He curiously went to look for him. He found Jeremiah in the one place he usually is. His study.  Jeremiah was staring at something on his desk. He turned around and jumped. Bruce chuckled.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. I come in peace."

Jeremiah chuckled and nodded.

"No that's quite alright."

They fell in an awkward silence. It was making Jeremiah extremely nervous. Bruce finally broke the silence. 

"Well, I just wanted to say that you did great today. Who knew you had it in you to be such a hero almost."

Jeremiah laughed and shook his head. He set against his desk. Bruce sighed.

"You know if you weren't always trying to destroy the city, we might actually a great team for real."

Jeremiah froze. He finally let out a nervous laugh that Bruce didn't seem to notice was nervous. Bruce looked at the clock.

"Well, It's about time that we got going. Don't want to over stay our welcome."

"I actually have not had house guests beside Mercedes and the twins in so long."

Bruce chuckled.
