The warm breeze blew through Mercedes' hair. The sun was shining brightly. They were walking through down town Applegate. Mercedes finally turned to Jerome.

"Why isn't it this warm in Gotham? I know I hate the heat, but this is in the middle and it feels great!"

Jerome chuckled. He gently grabbed her hand interlocking their fingers.

"I don't know, but you're right. This weather sure beats Gotham. This whole place does actually. It's not depressing here."

Mercedes watched Jerome look around in fascination. She saw a glimmer of something in his eyes. Was Jerome actually seeing how great being another city besides Gotham could be? Mercedes stopped dead in her tracks. The sound of someone singing filled her ears. She looked around and Jerome watched her confused.

"Where is that coming from? Someone is singing and it sounds gorgeous!"

Jerome looked around with her and a smile grew on his face.

"I know where it is. Over there. That bar and grill. They're doing karaoke."

Mercedes stared at the bar with a smile. Jerome gently tugged her arm.

"Come on. I'm sure they got good food."

A man in an apron approached them as they entered the bar. He smiled.

"Hi I'm Dylan. Is it just the three of you?"

Dylan laughed slightly, but dropped his smile at their confusion.

"Oh.. I'm sorry.. It's just.. you're pregnant.. Just a joke.."

Mercedes looked down at her stomach and gasped. She started laughing. Jerome started laughing too. Dylan was confused. Mercedes shook her head.

"Oh my gosh! No no. I'm sorry. We're slow. Didn't catch that at first, but it's funny. You're fine."

Jerome nodded.

"Then yes. Just us three."

Dylan laughed again. He walked them to their table and handed them menus. He handed Jerome their specialty drink menu. He smiled at Mercedes.

"We have small rang of soda, tea and water since this lovely lady can't drink."

Mercedes frowned and shook her head.

"No I can't..."

She smiled and nodded at Jerome.

"But you go ahead. I think I have... Root beer."

Dylan gave her a slightly surprised look, but nodded. Jerome stared at the drink menu.

"Just give me Ezra Brooks and Ginger Ale."

Mercedes scrunched her nose. Jerome rolled his eyes laughing. Dylan gave her a questioning look.

"Not a fan of Whiskey?"

Mercedes laughed. She shook her head.

"Oh no I love whiskey. I just can't stand Ginger Ale. I'm more of a heavier straight Bourbon girl. I do love a good Scotch from Scotland though. I'm not a big mixer. I'll do it every once in a while, but definitely never Ginger Ale. "

Dylan looked at Jerome with wide eyes.

"Wow! A woman who can take her liquor like a champ."

Mercedes laughed. She nodded.

"Momma didn't a raise a bitch."

Jerome laughed and shook his head. No one seemed to be staring at him at all. It's as if they either weren't scared of his face or just didn't want to be rude.
