"Okay, visiting hours are over. Sorry, but you all have to go home."

The nurse cautiously turned into Mercedes' room. Jerome was still sitting in the chair by the bed, but he was lying back against the wall asleep. She jumped when she was tapped on the shoulder. She turned to see Lee.

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

The nurse slowly turned around.

"Visiting hours are over, but um..."

Lee shook her head.

"Just leave him. It's okay."

"But.. he's not supposed to..."

Lee cut her off.

"It's okay I promise. You don't want to feel his wrath when you try to force him to leave. He's asleep anyways. I doubt he will wake up and try to hurt any other patient. He's just worried about his wife. He looks almost harmless sleeping though..."

The nurse shook her head confused. She turned to Lee with a million questions.

"How did he get a wife anyways..?"

Lee laughed slightly. She gave the nurse a smile.

"I was at the wedding surprisingly.. and I can tell you that some people will surprise you on just how much love they can really have in their seemingly black and loveless hearts. He- he truly does love her. They have kids too."

The nurse's eye widened.

"He has a gun in his lap..."

Lee sighed.

"He's not very trusting.. and he's extremely protective of her. Just let him be okay? I promise it'll be okay. I know we let everyone stay a couple of hours later than usual, but let's just leave him there."

Lee turned out the light and nodded to the nurse. They both walked into the hallway and she closed the door. Lee put a sticky note one the door then wrote on it.

Do not disturb until morning, unless issue arrives! Dr. Thompkins

The sun gently covered Jerome's face like a blanket. He slowly shuffled and stretched, waking up. He instantly aimed his gun when his still blurry eyes came in contact with another person in the room. They both froze. Jerome sighed and lowered his gun.

"Oh, you're just a nurse... sorry.."

Jerome suddenly realized where he was and why he was there. He gasped.

"Mercedes.."

He quickly turned to face her. She was still in her coma state. He shook his head. He slightly smiled at an idea he got. He slowly turned to the nurse who was carefully checking Mercedes' chart and reading.

"Is it.. okay if I play her some music..? She loves music.. I'll keep it turned down.."

The nurse was frightened and slowly grabbed Mercedes' clipboard. She slowly nodded.

"Um.. yeah.. that should be fine.. someone will come back later to check her..."

Jerome happened to grab her phone before they left the apartment. He shuffled her playlist on her phone. Many songs he had heard before played. Some old. Some new. Some were violent sounding and others were more calm. Her music taste was all over the place. Mercedes could go from rock to heavy metal to pop to classical and to rap all within an hour. Jerome remembered that night on the roof top of their apartment building. He was staring into space until a song certain song came on. He instantly looked at Mercedes. Everyone had always questioned their relationship. They questioned why Jerome even tried to be interested in a girl in the first place. He knew he had finally found a song that made him think of her the way her song made her think of him. The song played and he could see the night he kidnapped her. The way he watched her sleep before he took her. Flashes of their memories from his point of view ran through his mind.
