A Little Sane

Chapter 70

"Girl! This wedding was absolutely beautiful! How do you feel?!"

TaTyana smiled warmly at her co-worker. 

"I feel incredible... but.. I'm in complete shock."

Her co-worker smiled brightly. 

"Oh, it's an amazing feeling!"

The woman turned towrds Mercedes. 

"You must be Mercedes! I'm Kathy! TaTyana talks about you all the time at work! How do you two know each other?"

Mercedes had been examining Kathy. She looked slightly older than them. She had different shades of blonde highlights in her shoulder length , slightly wavey hair. She dressed like she was a real estate agent. Something about Kathy rubbed Mercedes the wrong way, but she let it slide. Mercedes hid her concern by smiling.

"Oh, we grew up together. Ever since we were little kids."

TaTyana smiled and laughed.

"She's my best friend Kathy remeber?"

Kathy nodded and laughed. She spoke with a voice that seemed more forced than genuine. 

"Of course I remember! It is so nice to finally meet you! You are way prettier than the pictures she has shown me."

Mercedes tilted her head smiling. 

"Awe, thank you."

Aislinn and Jessie walked by them with two other children who looked around their age. Kathy smiled. 

"The little boy called you mommy. Are those really your kids with that bright red hair?"

Mercedes was starting to get annoyed, but continued being polite.

"Yes. Those are my babies. Aislinn and Jessie."

Kathy put her hand on her heart.

"Those are my two. Zach and Gracie. I love the names Aislinn and Jessie! They are adorable! Their hair is red!"

Mercedes forced a slight laugh. She watched Kathy's eyes scan the room. Kathy finally landed on Jerome. Jerome was talking to some of Ed's friends. Jerome looked happy. She turned back towards Mercedes. 

"If you don't mind me asking, who is that? I noticed he was with you."

Mercedes looked at Jerome and smiled lovingly.

"That's my husband Jerome."

When she looked back at Kathy, she was met with a confused look.

"Your husband..? Really? Him?"

Mercedes was taken back.

"Yes, he's my husband."

Kathy pointed towards the kids.

"Who is their father?"

Mercedes tilted her head confused. 

"Jerome... My husband.."

TaTyana stepped forward. 

"Kathy? What are you trying to say?"

Kathy looked at Mercedes nervously and slightly grossed out. 

"Um... What happened to.. his face..?"

Mercedes instantly started to become angry. 

I know this bitch is not about to try and make fun of my husband. Lady I will kill you with no regret.

Mercedes shook her head sadly. She had prepared for this question. She just didn't know that it was going to be asked so boldly and rudely. 

"He worked in a warehouse... there was a chemical explosion with a pipe... Hit him right in the face... the doctors fixed him up as best as they could.."
