Chapter 152

"Are you positive this what you want to do?"

Mercedes sighed and turned to Jeremiah sadly.

"The plan should work... just... don't be late okay..?"

Mercedes watched Jeremiah's eyes fall behind her on the monitors. She knew they were outside when Jeremiah pulled her close. 

"They're here aren't they?"

"Momma.. do you have to go with them?"

Mercedes turned to Jessie and Aislinn. She knelt in front of them. Their faces were tired, but sad and scared. She didn't know how to comfort them. She cupped their cheeks and sighed.

"Yes.. I have to go with them. I have to get your daddy.. They took him and.. they cant keep him. He needs my help."

Mercedes held back tears as Jessie gently touched her left cheek where the bruise was now almost gone. She shook her head and held his hand. 

"You daddy still doesn't deserve to die.. I will be back before you know it okay?"

Mercedes was almost knocked over when Aislinn rammed into her and Jessie followed. She hugged them tightly. 

"My sweet babies. Even though you are growing up, you will always be my sweet babies and I will always love you. No matter what. Listen to your Uncle Miah and Ecco for me okay?"

"Mommy..? Are you gonna bring Uncle J back..?"

Gave Mariana a firm smile and opened her arms to hug her.

"Of course my love. He will okay. Like I told your brother and sister. I'll be back really soon."

She stood and turned around. The same woman was outside with several other men and women. 

"You have ten minutes to exit the bunker."

Jeremiah pulled her close.

"I promise I will not be late."

Mercedes nodded as a few tears streamed from her eyes. Jeremiah wiped them away. Mercedes leaned in and pressed her lips to Jeremiah's. She smiled when she pulled away.

"I will come back."

Jeremiah watched as she headed straight towards the door. He tilted his head in confusion when Ecco gently grabbed her arm.

"Mercedes.."

She turned around and gave Ecco a smile while grabbing her hand. 

"I'll be back soon.. Take care of them."

Jeremiah could see a sadness in Ecco's eyes that he had never seen before. He was confused where this sudden friendship had come from. Ecco nodded.

"You can count on me."

Mercedes nodded again.

"Thank you. I knew I could."

Guns were aimed at the door as it slowly opened. Mercedes walked out with her hands in the air. Jeremiah stared at the monitors shaking his head. His gaze lowered to his side when he felt Aislinn wrap her arms around his arm. She leaned her head into his arm. 

"Look.. I'll come quietly.. I promise.. I know my husband's life is on the line.. I won't use my powers.."

The woman smiled brightly as Mercedes slowly stepped forward. They watched Mercedes get into their car from inside the bunker. Jeremiah quickly turned to Ecco.

"Time to go! Don't let these kids out of this bunker!"

The car ride was silent. Mercedes stood staring at the private jet. The woman stood next to her.
