Mercedes stayed in their room when Jerome picked up the kids. She could hear him tell Abbe to tell her he will call about the same time as last time for bedtime. She slowly stepped out of the hallway after Jerome left. She set on the couch. Abbe stared at her to see she was already in her pajamas. Abbe shook her head. She smacked Mercedes and the leg.
"Uh-uh. No way. Get up."
Mercedes stared at Abbe confused.
"What Abbe?"
Abbe tugged her into a standing position. Mercedes stared at Abbe slightly annoyed.
"You are not sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. We are going out tonight."
Mercedes looked at her still confused.
"What are you talking about? Where?"
Abbe shook her head.
"Just go put on something sexy and meet me back in here. Go."
Mercedes sighed and walked to her room. She stepped into her closet and smiled. She laid eyes on one of her favorite outfits. She stepped out into the living room and Abbe's jaw dropped.
"Damn... Remind me why I let you stop having sex with me.."
Mercedes laughed and rolled her eyes.
"Ha! Very funny Abbe."
Abbe grabbed her hand pulled her out of the apartment. Mercedes raised her eye brows when they parked at the Night Owl.
"Abbe.. You brought me to the Night Owl.. The club.."
Abbe gently shook Mercedes.
"Oh come on! You a young and beautiful woman!"
"Who is married and has kids."
Abbe laughed.
"You don't have the kids tonight. You are Jerome are separated and besides it's not like you are looking for anything. You are just here to have a drink with me and dance. Come on. You are allowed to have some fun. You won't have the kids until day after tomorrow. Have some fun with me."
Mercedes rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Okay. Fine. Let's go in."
Abbe jumped like a small child and dragged Mercedes towards the door. Abbe dragged Mercedes straight towards the bar. The bartender greeted them with a huge smile. He seemed to be in his early thirties. He had short black hair and brown eyes.
"Good evening ladies. We have a special tonight. Two for one margaritas or one for half of regular price."
Abbe smiled brightly.
"Oww I want one."
Mercedes laughed. She shook her head.
"I do love those, but I won't be joining my friend tonight."
The bartender tilted his head.
"Something fruity with vodka?"
Mercedes shook her head.
"No thank you. Just give me your house bourbon on the rocks. Straight. No mixer."
The man raised his eyebrows.
"Oh we have a girl who can hold her strong liquor."
Mercedes laughed and nodded. Abbe shook her head as the bartender went to make their drinks.
"Where did you learn to love that?"
Mercedes shrugged.
"I just drank it one day and loved it. Well the first time I had it, they mixed it with something. Then I got lazy and didn't want to mix. So I didn't."
Abbe laughed. The bartender set their drinks in front of them.
"Thank you."
Mercedes paid and they continued to drink their drinks.
Jerome's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Check your feed. I'm sending you some more live footage."
Jerome hung up the phone and open his tablet. He clicked on the app and instantly saw Mercedes sitting at the Night Owl bar. He glared when he noticed her drink. Straight Bourbon.
Great. The shit my brother drinks..
He was mad that he couldn't see who she was talking to. He knew she had been spending her nights hanging out with Abbe so he wanted to know why she wasn't with her. Mercedes took the rest of her drink in a shot. Jerome was confused when saw an empty margarita glass hit the bar. He shook his head and slightly chuckled when he saw Abbe drag Mercedes to the dance.
So she is with Abbe..
Jerome watched as they danced closely together. He clinched his fists when two men were watching them excitedly.
I hope she makes you implode if you touch her!
"Daddy! Can we watch a movie until we fall asleep?"
Jerome looked over to see Jessie standing in front of him smiling. He looked at Mercedes and Abbe one last time. He smiled. She seemed to be having fun. He turned off the tablet and turned back to Jessie. He smiled.
"What would you and Aisie like to watch?I have a few kid movies. Why don't you guys come pick it out."
Jessie ran to go get Aislinn. Jerome laughed to himself.
Mercedes and Abbe were ready to leave, but the bartender yelled at them. The cautiously walked over to him.
"Sorry ladies, but some other ladies have been complaining about a few sketchy characters in the club. Would you mind staying right here until the bouncer comes back so he can walk you to the car?"
Abbe and Mercedes nodded.
"Oh.. Thank you!"
The bouncer walked them right to their car. He waited until they got in and locked the doors. He stood there and waved as they drove away. Mercedes sighed while driving home.
"Okay. That was fun."
Abbe smiled.
"See I told you it would be."
"Thank you Abbe..."
Abbe stared at Mercedes who was looking at the road. Mercedes spoke without looking at her.
"You were right. I did need that. It got me out of the house and I forgot about everything for a bit. So thank you."
Abbe tapped Mercedes's leg.
"You're welcome."
The rest of the car ride was silent. When they got back to the house Mercedes gently grabbed Abbe's wrist before she could walk into he'd room.
"Hey.. Wanna watch a movie in my room on the laptop... I know it's late, but I don't care if you have a bedroom sleep over."
Abbe's smile beamed.
"Comedy?"
Mercedes laughed and nodded.
"That sounds perfect."
Abbe nodded.
"Let me go put on me pajamas. I'll be right there."
Mercedes changed in her pajamas and pulled up the movie We're The Millers on the laptop just in time for Abbe to walk in.
