A Little Sane

Chapter 138

"Mommy!"

Mercedes eagerly caught Mariana as she jumped into her arms. She smiled lovingly then frowned.

"You just keep getting too big... I need you to stop growing my beautiful girl."

Mariana giggled and shook her head. Jeremiah stood in front of the door smiling. 

"You're silly mommy! I have to grow up. I can't stop."

Mercedes gently pushed Mariana's hair out of her face. She jokingly pouted.

"Why not? Why can't you stay mommy's little baby forever?"

"It's sci..en..tific...ially imposs..lible..."

Mercedes stared at her child for a moment.

"Scientifically impossible?"

She instantly laughed as she lifted her gaze towards Jeremiah.

"Yeah, this is your child." 

Jessie and Aislinn were loudly playing in Jessie's room. Mariana instantly squirmed to get out of Mercedes' arms. 

"Jessie! Aisie!"

Mercedes finally let her go and Mariana stomped on her foot before running down the hallway. 

"Ouch... Mariana!"

She shook her head as she opened her arms for a hug. Jeremiah gladly stepped into it. They hugged each other tightly.

"Hey there."

"Uncle J!"

Jeremiah laughed as they pulled away from their hug. Jerome had poked his head into the bedroom.

"Who said you could come to my house?!"

Mariana laughed loudly. She poked her tongue out at Jerome. 

"My mommy!"

Jeremiah shook his head. They could hear Aislinn yelling.

"Daddy stop messing with Rora!"

"Oh, I'm sorry Queen Aisie."

"Daddy I haven't been queen Aisie since I was seven..."

Mercedes laughed. She stopped when Jeremiah looked uneasy. 

"What is it? You found something out didn't you?"

Jeremiah sighed heavily. His eyes showed that he was scared, but not for himself. He spoke dryly. 

"They found her family Mercedes... They want to know what happened to her..."

Mercedes looked away.

"They can't prove anything..."

She turned to walk away and Jeremiah gently grabbed her arm.

"They already know that she knew you guys and the kids. They know you killed Diablo obviously."

Mercedes huffed as she pulled away. Jeremiah followed her through the living room.

"This wasn't some criminal that you can get away with! It's clear she wasn't truthful with you one-hundred percent. Her parents cared! Her parents will not stop until they have justice!"

Mercedes turned around angry.

"We didn't kill Abbe! Diablo did! I have video proof!"

Jeremiah groaned and continued to step forward.

"You disposed of her body Mercedes!"

She laughed slightly.

"Technically, Jerome did. I have no idea what he did with her."
