A Little Sane

Chapter 121

"Are you out of your fucking mind?! You can't arrest me! I've been her for almost a week now! I haven't done anything!"

Lee ran down the hallway. She could hear Jerome yelling. 

"Don't give me some bullshit about past crimes! You have no grounds right now to arrest me Jim!"

Lee hurried into the room. Jerome stood on the other side of the hospital bed close to his wife. 

"What's going on?!"

"Your fucking husband is trying to arrest me! I haven't even done anything!"

Jerome stepped forward and Jim aimed his gun.

"Attempted assault on a police officer might work if you step any further Jerome!"

Jerome turned to Lee with tears welling in his eyes.

"Lee I swear I didn't do anything! I always own up to my crimes! Jim I just want to stay with my wife!"

Lee gave Jim an angry look.

"Are you serious right now?!"

Jim halfway ignored her and turned to Jerome.

"Look... I just thought it would be easier..."

Jerome looked at Jim confused. He had hurt in his eyes and Jim just sighed before he spoke.

"Jerome.. Do you really still have faith she'll wake up? Should she wake up..? She wasn't even happy.."

Jerome instantly went into protective mode. He stood by the end of the bed next to Mercedes' feet and aimed his gun at Lee. 

"Are you fucking serious?! You want to pull her life support?! Jim I will fucking kill you both! You're not touching my wife!"

Lee gave Jim another angry look. She slowly stepped towards Jerome.

"No.. Jim does.. I don't want to.. I'm not going to Jerome.. She deserves the same amount of time and care as every other person.."

Jerome gave Jim an angry and heartbroken look.

"I just got off the phone with TaTyana! They're on their way! What were you going to tell them?! Jim I swear to fucking God, if you ever come near my wife in a dangerous way again, I will not hesitate to fuck you up!"

Their heated conversation was interrupted by the sound of Mercedes' machines going off. Lee instantly ran to the door.

"I have a code purple! I need help now!"

Nurses came rushing into the room. Jim sighed as he left and walked down the hallway. Lee gently pushed Jerome backwards as the nurses worked on Mercedes.

"I need you to go in the hallway. Now!"

Jerome fought back.

"What are you doing?!"

Lee grabbed a hold of him and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Jerome.. I am not going to pull the plug.. I'm going to save her. I promise you. I will not let her die. But you need to get out of our way. Now."

Lee pushed him into the hallway and shut the door behind her. Jerome started to pace quickly back and forth. He was starting to have a panic attack. Something he hadn't experienced since he was a child. He was hyperventilating and tears streamed down his cheeks. He let out a loud raspy scream and punched the wall three times, busting his hand. Jerome punched the wall one more time and slid to the ground against the wall. He screamed loudly. 

"She's stable again.. we doing lose her doc.."

Lee let out a breath of relief. Lee turned around to get Jerome when a nurse stopped her.
