"Return to me," declares the Lord Almighty. "And I will return to you." -Zechariah 1:3

Annalise Goode was casually walking down the hallway to the Gallagher Academy. She bumped into her tear streaked mother Cameron Goode.
"Mom?" Anna exclaimed. Her mother looked terrible. "What's wrong?" Cammie was an excellent agent, so she kept her composure.
"Nothing honey, just watching those sad dog movies," Cammie lied. Anna nodded and continued to walk. She whipped her head around as she realized her mother laughed in the dog movies. Zach called her evil every time.
Something was wrong. Anna couldn't place it, but she had a feeling she would soon find out what.

"Anna wake up!" Caroline shouted as she jumped on Anna's bed. "Get up! Hurry, there's no time to waste!"
"Caroline," Anna groaned. "What time is it?"
"Time for us to pick out your most scandalous outfit and get you ready with some makeup," Diana answered. Anna rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and squinted at her roommates. They were both dressed like supermodels.
    "What's going on?" Anna asked.
"They're here! The boys are here!" Caroline squealed. Anna shot out of bed.
   "The Blackthorne boys?" She asked.
   "Duh, who else?" Diana replied.
Anna hadn't been sure they were coming. She needed to find Chase. She threw her curls into a ponytail, and put on the first sweater and skirt she found. Without waiting on her roommates she ran straight to the grand hall. She gasped as she saw that it was littered with boys. She found Chase with his bruised up body and Bree holding his hand at their table.
"What's going on? Why did grandma let them come?" Anna asked.
"It's tradition," Bree said with a shrug. Anna frowned. She didn't like the sound of that. Someone cleared their throat.
"Hey," Peyton Newman said waving at Chase. He was the son of Rebecca Baxter and Grant Newman. Anna sat up straighter. Although Cason had made her immune to being boy crazy, she knew a hot guy when she saw one.
"Hey man," Chase said extending his hand. Peyton shook it and Anna could tell there was an unspoken friendship between the 2. "Thank you." Peyton nodded. He shifted his gaze to Anna.
"Well well well," he said with a gleam in his eyes. "Annalise Goode. How ya doin CJ?"
CJ was Anna's code name. It stood for chameleon junior. She smiled. "Doing well. How are your sisters?" Peyton shrugged. He leaned into her ear.
"We need to talk," he whispered. Anna looked at him quizzically, but nodded as she saw the desperate look in his eyes. Chase must have noticed because he squared up to Peyton. He was incredibly protective of his sister.
"Are you waiting for us to ask you to sit down or something?" Chase asked. Anna glared at him, he was a family friend after all.
"I guess so," Peyton laughed. "Figured we'd be chums like our fathers."
"Well you thought wrong," Chase laughed. He tried to make it seem less like a jerk move, but failed. Bree smacked his arm and he cringed.
"Of course you can sit with us," Bree said with her trademark smile. "And you are?"
"Peyton," he said taking her hand. "Peyton Newman." Bree smiled even more as she heard his last name.
   "Bree Morrison."
"I know."  Chase shifted uncomfortably at Peytons response.
"You know me?" Bree asked. She looked intrigued.
"Of course," Peyton replied. "I go to Blackthorne." Bree paled at the thought.
"Hey that's enough man," Chase said angrily. "You don't need to scare her or remind her of anything." Peyton held up his hands in surrender. He turned back to Annalise.
"CJ do you want to get out of here? I really need to talk," he said. He pleaded with his eyes and stood up. Chase grabbed his arm, though Anna knew it had to have hurt.
"Absolutely not," Chase said fiercely. Peyton sighed angrily and pulled away from him.
"Look man I saved your life, what more is it going to take for you to trust me?"
"I will never trust anyone from Blackthorne," Chase laughed. For some reason Anna was enraged by his attitude. She stood up and glared at her brother.
"Stop pretending you never went to Blackthorne," she growled. She grabbed Peyton's hand and together they exited the cafeteria. When they were finally alone Annalise spoke.
"So, how are you?" She asked.
"Fine," Peyton said with a sly smile. His tone suddenly turned serious, "but I have a feeling Bree and Chase won't be for long."
"Why?" Anna exclaimed. She grabbed Peyton by the hands. She was surprised at how big they were. He looked down at their hands and then shifted uncomfortably.
"Look, Chase almost died back at Blackthorne." He replied.
"Why? Who wants him dead?" Anna asked.
"I don't know CJ, all I know is that they only want him dead because he's a threat. They want Bree, not Chase. They just know they'll never get to her as long as he's alive." Peyton rushed. Anna heard the sound of footsteps coming towards them and the sound of voices rising. "Anna they're coming!"
"Who is?" Anna said annoyed. She turned to look at who was coming near. When she turned back, Peyton was already gone.

                        9 weeks later...

Anna raced through the halls. The only mission that mattered to her was finding Peyton Newman. Tears were pouring down her face, but she trudged on. She made it to the Blackthorne wing and kicked down the door to the room that she knew Peyton was in.
"Where are they?" Anna screamed. Peyton walked towards her and reached for her hands.
"CJ, calm down," he pleaded. Anna smacked his hands off of her.
"Where the hell are my brother and Bree?!" She raged. Peyton put a finger to his lips and pointed to the hallway. He motioned her to be quiet.
"Look, I'll tell you everything I know, but not here. Anna, trust me when I tell you this. I'm not lying, but you have to be careful who you trust. I know you love him, but I think Chase has a lot more secrets than you do. And Bree- I hope she doesn't drown in his pool of darkness." Peyton whispered.
"What?" Anna asked. She had never been more confused.
"I will help you find who is responsible for this, I promise. There's just one slight problem," he said.
"What?" Anna sniffled. Peyton's eyes went dark.
"You. I think you know more than what you're leading on and I intend to change that."
