(Recently I have been extremely impatient with everything in life. I have been wanting things and if I don't get them at the exact moment then I am mad. It has helped me to reread a verse from the Bible. It helps me remember that God has a plan for my life. I hope this verse can be of help to someone.
"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" -Jeremiah 29:11
Remember that Gods plan is better than whatever we could imagine for ourselves!)
(So normally I don't do what happens during winter and summer break buuuut I feel like you guys deserve a little extra chapter. This is going to be a little chapter of an event during winter break from Bree's perspective. Hope you enjoy your special chapter!)Bree sat on the couch of a small cabin watching a very gory movie with Morgan Townsend. Morgan was cool. She was young. She laughed every time someone got slashed. At times Bree thought that Morgan was crazy.
"Hey," Morgan said as she turned to the girl that she was protecting. "I want you to back your bags. We're gonna go to my parents house for New Years if that's okay with you." Bree cringed.
"But your dad hates me," she reminded Morgan. Bree thought for a moment. Townsend had told her that he didn't hate her. He had picked the best bodyguard for Bree. Bree realized that she kind of like Edward. Morgan waved the detail away with her hand.
"Don't pay any attention to him. Besides, their California house is awesome and there's a great firework show," Morgan replied. Morgan saw the uncertainty on Bree's face, so she continued. "And Chase will be there." Bree's face lit up. Morgan grinned at her.
"I guess going somewhere and seeing people would be better than staying here. Besides, I don't want to keep you from your family," Bree gave in.
"Awesome," Morgan smiled. "Oh, and pack a swimsuit."
* * *
Bree stared up at one of the Townsend's homes. It was a very nice condo in California. She didn't want to be there. She knew that she would feel out of place. Morgan put a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry, you'll know most of the people here. I'm sure that Anna and Chase are just dying to see you," Morgan said. Bree nodded. Morgan winked as she pushed open the doors. "We're here! I brought a friend!"
Bree played with the tips of her French braid. She looked around the living room and saw that no one was there. She turned and saw that through the gym door someone was doing push ups. The man was tall with broad shoulders and dark brown hair.
"Chase?" Bree asked. She jumped as Zach turned around and grinned at her. She could have sworn it was Chase.
"Sorry to disappoint," Zach said. Morgan laughed and ran to hug her half brother.
"Hey sweetheart," Zach said and kissed her forehead.
"Where is everyone?" Morgan asked. Zach wiped sweat off of his brow.
"Matthew hasn't gotten in yet, he was in a delay. Abby took Riley to a park not too far away. Cam and Ed are arguing about something. I don't know what, I quit paying attention 10 minutes into it. Anna is busy in the kitchen. And Chase is with Jaycee," Zach replied.
"Sweet," Morgan said. She turned to wink at Bree.
"How've you been?" Zach asked Bree. "Get tired of staying with her yet?"
"Not yet. Every night is movie night for us," Bree chuckled. Zach laughed. He lead the girls through the house into the kitchen. Cammie and Ed were arguing at the table.
"I can assure you, Cameron, the mission in Kabul was a failure," Townsend was snapping.
"It was a success!" Cameron stressed. "We got the disk. No casualties, no alarms set off, so no failure!"
"Ahem," Morgan said as she cleared her throat. Anna looked up from the cookies she was making.
"Aunt Morgan! Bree!" Anna cried. She ran to hug the girls.
"Hey squirt," Morgan said as she cocked a hip.
"Hi angel," Bree smiled. Things were less awkward now that she was with her friend. Cammie got up and hugged both of the girls.
"Morgan, tell your father that he's wrong. The mission in Kabul was a success," Cammie said. Zach rolled his eyes and put his arm around his wife.
"Give it up, Gallagher Girl. You know that old people never think that they're wrong," he said.
"You would know," Anna said with a chuckle. Zach looked offended.
"Shut up," he grumbled. Morgan grabbed Bree's hand and lead her to a bedroom in the back.
Bree's breath caught. She froze as she watched a very attractive boy play Barbie's with a little girl. The little girl looked to be 5 or 6. She had the most adorable giggle as Chase spoke using his ken doll voice.
"I don't want to go to the party! I want to go home!" Chase cried in an accent. Jaycee giggled hysterically.
"No! Bubby, Fred wants to go to the party!" Jaycee giggled. Bree's heart melted. Chase was adorable.
"Hey, nephew," Morgan laughed from her spot. Jaycees head jerked up.
"Morgy!" She cried. The little girl ran to hug her aunt. Chase jumped to his feet and dropped his ken doll to the ground.
"Bree!" He exclaimed. "I was just- we were-" Jaycee looked at Bree. Jaycee looked different from her siblings. She looked a bit like Bree.
"You're Bree?" Jaycee asked. Bree nodded. Jaycee grinned. "You and Chase are gonna get married!" Jaycee hugged Bree tightly around the waist. Chase started coughing. His eyes were wide. Bree smiled and hugged the little girl back.
They heard the front door open. The family went out to meet the 3 walking through the door. Bree noticed a beautiful woman with an athletic build kiss Townsend on the lips. The woman looked like Morgan. She turned to Bree.
"You must be Bree. I'm Abby," she said extending her hand. "Don't pay any attention to my husband. He's just a crabby old man." Abby winked at Bree. Bree looked to the tall boy on her right.
"I'm Matt. I'm Chase's uncle," he explained. Bree nodded. Chase had told her about him. They were close. Matthew was Chase's middle name. It was the family name of Chase's late grandfather.
"This is Riley," Zach said as he picked up the little boy on Abby's left. Riley waved shyly at Bree. She smiled and waved back. Riley blushed.
"Looks like Riley has a crush," Cammie laughed. Riley blushed and Chase shoved his brother.
"You watch yourself, brother," Chase teased. "I've already got dibs." Bree wrinkled her nose and smiled at Chase. He grinned back at her.
"Get a room!" Anna called as she laughed from the kitchen. Chase cut his eyes at his sister.
"Alright gang, sleeping arrangements are complicated this year due to our plus one," Abby began as she winked at Bree. "Anna and Jaycee, you 2 are pairing up to take the air mattress. Cam and Zach, you've got the guest bedroom and Riley can sleep on the futon in there. Morgan and Bree can pair up in the spare bedroom. One of you can take the air mattress and the other can take the couch. When the others get here they can take the blue guest bedroom. And Chase and Matt, you've got the couches." Matt raised his arm and gave the thumbs up.
"What's for dinner?" Ed asked. Abby rolled her eyes.
"Of course that's what you would ask. I think tonight we can eat outside and have a nice barbecue. Then we can go hot tubbing after!" Abby replied. She grinned at the group. Anna gulped. Family time with Chase's family was going to be strange.
