"You called?" I asked and popped another M&M in my mouth. Mom beamed at me as the girls were gaping.
"Mom!" Anna exclaimed and ran into my arms. I smiled and held her tightly.
"Hi sweet girl," I said. I noticed Bree standing off in the corner, watching us with a grin. I held out my hand. She took it and I pulled her into our hug. "Nice to see you again, Bree." She pulled away.
"You too. Could we maybe take this conversation somewhere more private?" Bree asked. More private than moms office? That meant mom couldn't know. And that meant this was something that I was probably going to get in trouble for.
I nodded and lead the girls down into the sublevels. Joe was gone, so I knew that we were good. "What can I do for you?"
"I think- no. I know I'm being watched. When I was in Kansas someone was taking pictures of me. I was in town today and I had 2 tails. They looked younger. I think they were Blackthorne Boys," Bree informed. I raised my eyebrows.
"Blackthorne Boys!" I exclaimed. "So you think that Chase has something to do with it?"
"No! Yes," Bree sighed. "Maybe?" I nodded and took a seat.
"Well then let's go over the facts. You said that someone was taking pictures of you in Kansas. Chase only tried to sneak out once. He failed. He was with us the whole time, so it wasn't him. You had 2 tails today, you said? And you saw them and it wasn't Chase, so it couldn't have been him. Blackthorne isn't a come and go type of place. Once you're in you stay in. But of course Chase could be involved if he hired people to watch you," I started, rattling off the facts. "Nope, Chase isn't involved at all."
"How do you know?" Anna asked. I chuckled.
"Because if Chase thought you were in danger then he would be here. He wouldn't have someone else do his work. He would need to see you. It's nearly impossible, but he would find a way," I replied.
"How do you know?" Bree questioned again.
"Because Zach would have," I said with a shrug. "Zach did." The girls looked intrigued, but didn't ask. That was a good thing. I wouldn't have been able to tell them anyways.
"So who is watching Bree then?" Anna asked.
"Now that is something that we need to figure out. But sometimes the question isn't who but why," I countered.
"Why did the circle chase you?" Bree asked. I watched her eyes go wide as she realized that she slipped up.
"He told you?" I asked. Of course he did. Chase was head over heels for her. Bree nodded weakly. I sighed. "They chased me because I held the key to their destruction." I watched the girls take in my words. We sat in silence until we heard a voice behind us.
"Cameron Ann Morgan," the voice hissed. I took a deep breath and turned to face Kira.
"Hello, Kira. How have you been?" I asked in an all too chirpy tone. I let her see that the use of my maiden name didn't phase me.
"I've been better. Now what the hell are you doing in my school?" She snapped. I chuckled slowly. I stood up and tried to make myself seem scary.
"Your school? How amusing," I said calmly.
"Leave, bitch," she said. Yeah, Kira called me the B word. I noticed Bree flinch. Anna's mouth dropped open. My daughter knew that Kira should be very scared. I folded my hands together.
"Aren't you the one who nearly got my husband killed on a mission?" I asked blankly. I took 2 steps closer to her. She stepped back. I cut my eyes at her. "Oh yes, that was definitely you. I just hate it when people nearly get my husband killed. I wonder if he'd like to come visit. I'm sure you 2 would like to settle some unfinished business."
I watched Kira's face turn white. She knew that's she was no match for Zach. Zach could easily kill her with his arms tied behind his back. It was enough to shut her up.
"Oh," I said as I walked out of the room. "You should pray that you take any bullet or hit for my daughter. If she gets hurt because of your lack of guarding you're going to wish that whoever is after her would have killed you. That's going to be a luxury compared to what I will do."

"Cam," I heard someone say. I felt a kick to the side. I groaned. "Wake up, Gallagher Girl." I groaned louder. Not Zach, let it be anyone but Zach. I opened my eyes and saw Zach's foot kicking my side.
"Kick me again and I'll cut your foot off," I grumbled. Zach grinned.
"Gee, Gallagher Girl. I knew you were obsessed with me, but foot fetishes are extremly weird. Even for you," he teased. Zach was eyeing me strangely. For a second I was insecure about my appearance. Then I remembered that this was Zach. He had seen me look far, far worse.
"What are you doing here? How did you find me?" I questioned. Zach shrugged.
"I followed the trail of bread crumbs," he joked. I rolled my eyes and pulled my hair back. I slipped on shoes and headed through the Academy. "So why didn't you tell me about your secret mission that the agency doesn't even know about?"
"Because it's none of your business, Zach," I replied. "They asked for me. Not you." He followed me down the stairs. I walked into the hospital wing to grab a few pills. I was shocked by the sight of the beautiful blonde girl with huge dark circles sitting on a hospital bed.
"Chase!" Bree exclaimed. Her tired face lit up and she moved towards Zach. He cringed.
"Not quite," He said, stepping into the light. Bree's entire face fell.
"Oh. Hi, Zach," she said sadly.
"Sorry," Zach said apologetically. Bree shrugged.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked.
"I've been having trouble... sleeping lately," Bree replied.
"Nightmares?" I asked. Bree shivered.
"Something like that."
"I didn't call Zach," I told her. "I don't know how he knew I was here."
"Oh come on, Gallagher Girl. I knew you weren't going on a mission for the agency. And I know that there's no way you're not going to get in trouble if you're here," Zach said as he playful shoved me.
"Bree is being tailed. She thinks they might be Blackthorne Boys," I informed him. Zach looked scared. "Something wrong?" He shook it off and smiled.
"Of course not. We'll keep an eye on you, Bree," he replied. Bree nodded.
I went into the grand hall and grabbed my breakfast. I took it to go. I sat in my bedroom as I watched Zach pace.
"Hey, why'd you get all scared back there?" I asked. Zach whipped his head around to face me. He gave me a condescending look.
"She thought that they were from Blackthorne!" Zach exclaimed like I was crazy.
"So?" I asked, getting defensive. "Chase is from Blackthorne! Maybe he sent people to make sure Bree is okay." Zach laughed, a small mocking sound.
"Chase wouldn't trust any of them. For good reason, I'd assume. He wouldn't hire people from Blackthorne. But do you know who would? Do you know who's been doing it for years?" Zach questioned. I put my hand to my mouth as I realized what he was saying. I suddenly realized why he was so scared. I held my breath as Zach whispered "Catherine."
