Annalise Goode was picking books in the library. She bent down and grabbed a very old looking one.
"Anna!" Someone shouted. She jerked her head up and it slammed into the book case. She grabbed her head.
"Ow!" She cried. "Bree? What do you want?you startled me."
"I want answers," Bree said. She touched Anna's bump and smiled. "You'll be okay."
"What do you mean you want answers?" Anna asked.
"Your grandpa questioned me today. I asked around and he's staying here for the week to watch me. I want to know why. I'm going to use a truth serum and you're going to help me," Bree said confidently.
"Bree!" Anna hissed. "He's my grandpa! I'm pretty sure that's illegal!"
"Don't you want to know where Chase was all winter break?" She asked. Anna frowned. Bree had her. Bree grinned. "So how do we do it?"
"That'll be nearly impossible. Papa Ed doesn't sleep. Really, he never goes to bed before two and he doesn't wake up past 8. He doesn't even drink caffeine!" Anna said. She shook her head. Anna may have been a genius, but her grandfather was a mystery to her.
"What does he do when he wakes up?" Bree asked.
"He runs. He runs for miles. Then he focuses on his core and does a workout," Anna replied, remembering all of the times she had stayed at his home while her parents were on missions.
"What does he drink?" Bree asked. Anna laughed.
"Orange juice. He drinks a glass of orange juice every morning. So does my dad," she replied. Bree grinned. Anna knew that they had a plan.

The next morning Anna and Bree sat at their table with a glass of orange juice. Adalind and Amelia were in on their plans. They poured a truth serum into the glass. Anna watched as she saw her father walking with her grandfather. They were deep in conversation. They each grabbed a glass of orange juice and sat at their table.
"Oopsie," Amelia said as she bumped Ed's glass of orange juice. It spilled everywhere.
"Mind yourself, Baxter," Townsend snapped.
"I'm a Newman," Amelia said with a grin.
"Here, papa Ed," Anna said, sliding the contaminated orange juice towards him. "You can have mine. I don't want it anymore." Townsend raised an eyebrow, but took a drink.
Just as quickly as Townsend entered the grand hall, he left. The girls tailed him through the school. They tailed him to the East wing, where he was rooming. He crashed to the floor and looked up at the girls. He locked eyes with his grand daughter.
"Oh hey, Abby," he said, his words slurred. He squinted at Anna. "Morgan?" He was unsure of who she was.
"Anna," she said as she pointed to herself. Townsend nodded and gave her a sloppy wave. He smiled at her.
"Where's Zach?" He asked. Adalind grabbed his collar and made him face her.
"Where did Chase go during winter break?" She snapped. Townsend laughed. He sounded drunk.
"On a mission," he said. Adalind tightened her grip on his shirt. He coughed a bit. "He went to Ireland. We needed his aim." Adalind nodded, satisfied with the answer.
"Why did you question me?" Bree asked.
  "To get answers."
  "What kind of answers?"
"Why you're alive. What you know." Anna looked at Bree. Bree cut her eyes at Anna's grandpa.
"Why are you here?" Anna asked.
"To find her. The Academy might be the only place to have records of her," Townsend said sluggishly.
"Who?" Amelia asked. Townsend looked at her like she was the stupidest girl he had ever seen
"The descendant," he whispered. Anna looked at her friends. They all had the same puzzled look. Townsend yawned and dropped to the ground.
"When he isn't talking, he's kind of hot," Amelia said. Anna wore a shocked look. Her grandpa was old. I mean, he was her papa! She looked at him. His ice blue eyes were covered by his eyelids as he slept. His curly dark brown hair was turning gray.
"Not as hot as Uncle Zach," Adalind said and elbowed her sister. Anna cringed. Every girl thought that her dad was hot. He was tall and strong, after all. He shared Townsend's dark hair, but he had deep green eyes. Anna's favorite color.
"Not as hot as Chase," Bree whispered. It was so quiet that for a minute, Anna wondered if she had even said it at all.
Amelia kicked Townsend in the side. "Wake up!" Townsend didn't move. Amelia glared down at him. She grinned. She slapped him in the face. Anna watched his ice blue eyes open wide. He was awake and alert, but only for a little bit.
"What?" He snapped. The red hand print was showing on his face.
"What do you know?" Adalind hissed. Townsend smirked at her. For a second Anna thought that he serum had worn off.
"I know that you're in big trouble, Baxter," he said. He looked up and grinned. Then he drifted back to sleep.
Anna looked to where Townsend had been grinning moments before. She saw a tall figure standing in the doorway. Her eyes bulged as she watched her father stand in the door way and say, "well that wasn't very nice."
"Dad!" Anna cried. Her friends mirrored her shock. Her dad just leaned against the doorway casually. He grinned.
"Your mom is going to kill you," he laughed. Anna didn't know if she should take that literally or not. Because face it, her mom totally could kill her!
"Ah, come on Zach," Amelia whined. "Don't tell Cammie."
"Don't tell Cammie!" Zach exclaimed. "Have you ever seen that woman? She would see right through anyone!" Zach stopped. He grinned. "It's a good thing I'm a fantastic agent."
"You're not going to tell her?" Bree asked.
"Nope, I'm kind of supposed to be keeping you girls alive," he replied with a wink. "Besides, to me it just likes like the old man took a nap." Zach lightly kicked his father and grinned.
"Thank you for not telling mom," Anna said gratefully. Zach only laughed.
"I said that I won't tell her. I never said that he wouldn't," Zach replied, pointing to his father. Anna gulped. They were so screwed.
