"Nothing in creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God." -Romans 8:39

"Cameron Goode, CIA," I said to the intercom. It flashed a green light and paused again.

"Zachary Goode, CIA," my husband added. The light flashed and paused again. "Riley Goode and Jaycee Goode, children."

The light finally turned green, and the gate lifted. Zach drove up the winding gravel road to the huge mansion we called the Gallager Academy. Right now, it was home to my oldest son and daughter. Edward Townsend, my uncle, ex teacher, and oddly enough father-in-law, was having a birthday. He wanted the whole family together, so that meant a trip to Gallagher. I knew my mother would be inside decorating. My mother greeted at the door.

"Hey, Cam," she said giving me a big hug. "How ya doin, Zach? Hey, kiddos!" she grabbed each of my kids and lifted them up. Rachel Solomon was still one of the most beautiful women ever, even with her age. Her oak brown hair now had streaks of gray, and her blue eyes had wrinkles around them. She was wearing glasses now, but still looked lovely.

She lead us through the halls so that we wouldn't disturb the students. She had decorated the grand hall with plenty of streamers and banners. I heard voices coming from the hallway so I followed them and found Chase and Townsend in a separate room. They looked to be in deep conversation. Chase looked very serious. The second he spotted me, he cut off Ed and came to hug me.

"Hi mom," he said as he embraced me. I watched Ed over Chase's shoulder, but I couldn't read his expression.

"Hi Chase. Happy birthday, Ed," I said. He mumbled a thank you and Chase lead us all into the grand hall.

"There he is!" Zach exclaimed as we entered. "The old British man another year older! It's near time we put you in the home." Ed shot Zach a glare, but Zach laughed, clearly unfazed.

Abby and Ed's son Matthew strolled in and patted his father on the back. Matthew's wife hugged Ed next and he kissed her on the cheek. Matthew had married Sofia a year ago. Sofia was Latina. Her and Matt met on a mission in Brazil where they hit it off. They married a few short months later, and Sofia was now bulging at the stomach from her pregnancy. I remember when they announced their pregnancy he winked at Zach and made a comment about Sofia being spicy.

"Hey Matt," I said as I embraced my brother-in-law. "How's the real estate business?" Matt had been doing field work for years now, but after he married Sofia he gave up that life. He claimed it was because Sofia hated him constantly being gone, but I think he had been looking for an out for years. He never did live up to his brother and Ed made that obvious every day. I didn't blame him for leaving the field, plus I heard he was thriving in real estate.

"With inflation it's nuts, Cammie. I've seen the shittiest houses sell for half a million dollars," he explained. Sofia gave me a quick hug and took a seat at the table.

"She didn't actually care Matthew, she was just being nice," a voice said. I turned around and saw Matt's twin Morgan sashay into the room. "Hey, Cam." I hugged her and she punched her brother in the arm.

"Hey, sis," I said. Morgan gave me a genuine smile. Behind her I noticed her fiancé Enzo. Morgan met him in Italy three years ago on a mission. Enzo was a huge nerd. He didn't look like it with his dark hair and mustache, but he was a tech wiz. He didn't do any field work, he met Morgan while he was jamming a security system for her. Enzo was not what I pictured Morgan to fall for, but he truly was perfect for her. Morgan had plenty of boyfriends in the past and for a girl that beautiful I knew that she was tired of being used for her body. Enzo was the sweetest man, even if he was nerdy.
