Annalise could hardly look at Chase and Bree as she ate breakfast the next morning in the grand hall. She noticed how Bree had tried to cover up the dark circles that she had.
"Long night?" Diana asked Bree. Bree nodded.
"Yeah, I've been up really late studying," Bree said cooly. If Anna hadn't seen her crying as Chase held her the night before, she would have believed it.
"I can see that. You look awful," Diana said. Awful? Bree had dark circles, only enough makeup to try to cover them, messy hair, and a plain uniform yet she was still the prettiest girl in the room.
"Did you hear the rumors?" Adalind asked as she slid into her seat. The group turned to her questioningly.
"Headmistress Solomon is bringing in 2 agents. They're Gallagher Alumni. They're going to spend a few weeks with us," Amelia explained. Anna shrugged. She'd met a ton of Gallagher Alumni in her life. Heck, most all of the women in her family were alumni.
"That's cool. Are they here because of us?" Caroline asked. Anna had been wondering the same thing. Maybe these women were supposed to make sure that they didn't sneak out.
Anna didn't have to turn around to know that her grandmother had taken her place at the podium.
"Ladies and gentleman, I think we can all agree that recently our school has needed security measures to be... tightened," Rachel began. Anna could feel her grandmother's eyes on her. "Due to these security threats we are bringing in 2 agents. These agents are Gallagher alumni. They are going to be staying with us for a few weeks. They will go to your classes, eat with you, and live like you. Don't be alarmed, they are just checking up on our school. They will be giving a few lectures too."
Anna heard the door open. She didn't turn around. She didn't particularly care who the people were. She heard gasps fill the room. She heard many people whisper, "it's them!" She heard the boys say "she's hot!" Then she heard the girls say "he's hot!" Anna looked up. He? She stared at her brother who had dropped his fork. It crashed to the ground. Her brother was gaping. She slowly turned around and was greeted by 2 agents smiling brightly at her and Chase.
"Please join me welcoming agents Cameron and Zachary Goode to the Academy!" Rachel beamed. An applause erupted. Her parents were legends here.
She watched her parents stroll over to the table where her and Chase were sitting. Zach winked at his kids. She turned to her mother who had an evil grin on her face. Cammie smiled as she said "hey kiddos."
* * *
"Mom?" Anna said. She knew it was her mother, she just couldn't believe that she was here.
"Dad?" Chase said across from her. Zach grinned at him.
"Hey, buddy," he said. "I hear someone's been staying up too late." Chase's eyes widened. How did he know that? "And I hear someone else is playing hooky." He was looking at Anna. She blushed.
"Are you really surprised?" Cammie asked next to him. "They're your children." Zach laughed.
"The sneaking out part is definitely your fault. The strength and dashing good looks are all from me," Zach said. Bree was staring at Zach. Her mouth was wide open. She was probably stunned by the famous alumni. Or she was stunned by how much Chase and Zach looked alike. Cammie rolled her eyes.
"Agent Cameron," Caroline said and shook her hand. "It's an honor to meet you, you're a legend!" Cammie smiled.
"It's nice to meet you too, Caroline," Anna's mother replied. Caroline's eyes were huge.
"She knows my name!" Caroline exclaimed. Anna sighed.
"So this is what it's like to have celebrity parents," she muttered.
"Hello, I'm Bree," Bree said extending her hand. She would have made their C&A teacher extremely proud. Cammie and Zach shared a glance.
"So you're the girlfriend?" Zach said grinning. Chase began choking on his water. The whole school was watching this! Everyone stared at Chase. Some of the girls glared at Bree. Most of the boys looked like they wanted to hurt Chase. Bree stepped back as her mouth hung open. "About time someone keeps this kid in check."
"Don't tease them, Zach," Cammie said elbowing him. "You know how we were at that age. You know how I liked to keep my boyfriends secret." Cammie winked at Zach.
"We're not together," Chase said. The girls and the boys alike sighed a breath of relief. Anna expected Bree to react, but she kept a straight face.
"Oh," Zach said, nodding as if he understood. "You're in denial. I remember that phase."
"How have you been, girls?" Cammie asked changing the subject. She was talking to Diana, Adalind, and Amelia. They were her best friends' children.
"We're quite wonderful, thank you," Amelia said with an award winning smile.
"So nice to see you again, Cammie," Adalind added.
"How's my mom?" Diana asked.
"Just peachy," Zach said with a grin.
"So you're here to what?" Anna asked feeling annoyed. "Make sure that I don't break anymore rules?"
"Oh no, didn't you hear? We're simply checking up on the school," Cammie said, doing an impression of her mother. "And Bree, you will be missing your next class. We're taking you to be questioned by a member of the CIA."
"The CIA already questioned me," Bree said. Zach started laughing.
"I'm sure that you'll find this agent is a bit different," he said. Chase and Anna made eye contact. They were both thinking the same thing: Papa Ed. Joe and Rachel joined the group. The handed Anna's parents key cards.
"Now you have clearance to everything," Joe said. Zach looked at both of his kids and grinned at them.
"This should be fun."
