Zachary Goode had everything he could ever want in life. He had the girl of his dreams, the best job ever, a fantastic house, and 4 children. He was jogging down the street while his 2 youngest children followed him on their bikes. Zach had sweat dripping down his face and he grinned as he saw girls staring at him. His kids zig zagged around each other and he threw his head back and laughed.
"Catch me, daddy!" Jaycee cried as she sped up. Zach began accelerating. He thought like a spy. Catching Jaycee was his mission and he needed to figure which way would be the best to catch her. Jaycee was fast and out of his view within seconds. Luckily, he could hear her giggles a mile away. He turned through an alley and sprinted to the other side. He saw Jaycee looking behind her giggling. She faced the front and saw her dad standing in front of her. She quickly hit her brakes. Riley rode up behind her.
"How'd you do that?" Riley asked, amazed. Zach grinned.
"Spy," he said pointing to himself.
"Daddy's Superman!" Jaycee shouted and began giggling hysterically.
"That's right, princess," Zach said and began tickling her. She laughed. Zach stopped. The hair on his neck stood on end. They weren't alone. He turned and saw a black flash sprint across the alley. His kids noticed and stared down the alley.
"Stay here," he told them. Jaycee looked scared, but Riley nodded.
Zach made his way down the alley. He heard steps behind him and turned to see something run across the alley again. He walked forward and stopped. Something wasn't right. He heard a noise. He looked up as something crashed on him, pinning him to the ground. He looked up and saw the face of a grinning woman.
"Gallagher Girl," he said happily. She bent down and kissed him on the lips.
"Took you long enough to realize," she teased. She was still pinning him to the ground and smiling. Zach couldn't help it, he grabbed her head and pulled her down. He kissed her some more. She gave in. Zach was glad that she was done with her mission early.
"Mommy!" Jaycee cried as she sprinted down the alley. Zach swore in Farsi as he pulled away from his wife. Cammie got up and brushed herself off. She opened her arms and swallowed her daughter in a hug.
"Hey kiddo," she said with a smile. Riley joined them in a hug. Zach put his kids back on their bikes. He slung his arm around Cam. She smiled at him. The family walked back to their house.
"You're home early," Zach said when they entered the house. Cam nodded.
"Townsend was off on his time estimate," she answered. Zach nodded. The 2 walked into their big kitchen and began to make dinner. Riley and Jaycee were playing ninjas in the living room. Cam and Zach were making pasta.
"Hey Gallagher Girl, how mad would you be if I flicked sauce on your face?" Zach asked mischievously. Cammie turned around to answer him and was greeted with tomato sauce hitting her face.
"Zachary Goode!" She exclaimed. She grabbed a sauce spoon and flicked it back on him. He grabbed flour and threw it at her. She squealed. The kids were up and running into the kitchen. They all got caught up in a giant food fight. Zach was grabbing Cammie by the waist and putting sauce in her hair. Cam was screaming. The kids were practically rolling around in flour. "Oh Zach, the water!" It was boiling. Zach calmed down and finished making dinner as Cammie cleaned up the mess.
The family sat at the dinner table and passed around food. "So," Zach started. "How was work?" Cammie glared at him.
"Classified," she responded. She turned to the kids. "How was school?" Zach rolled his eyes. She was a spy, she already knew how school was.
"Oh mommy, it was awful! At recess I wanted to play Barbie's, but Jenny said we needed to play house. I didn't want to play house! I told her I wanted to play Barbie's and then she made all of my friends mad at me!" Jaycee cried. Cam gave her a serious look.
"Oh my gosh! It's the end of the world!" She said with a smile. Jaycee nodded like she totally agreed.
"Well school was good for me. We played dodgeball in PE today and I won every time! I'm a dodgeball champ just like you were, dad. Right, dad? Weren't you the best?" Riley interjected. Zach nodded.
"Of course, the Goode's are always the best," Zach replied. It was Cammie's turn to roll her eyes.
The family finished dinner and cleaned up. They all watched a movie. The movie finished and they all relaxed. Zach stared into Cammie's eyes.
"Have I ever told you how sexy you are when you're working?" Zach asked Cammie. She grinned. He pulled her closer and began kissing her.
"Ew!" Riley and Jaycee giggled. Cammie pulled away and smiled at them. Zach glared at his kids.
"Bedtime," Zach said. They groaned, but obeyed. Zach waited for Cammie to tuck them in and tell them goodnight before he went in. He told his kids goodnight and walked out of their rooms.
He looked around the living room. Cammie wasn't there. He looked out the window and saw her standing on the back deck. Her hair was blowing beautifully in the wind. It was dark, but the moonlight showed her perfectly. He opened the door without making a sound. He snuck up behind her and grabbed her by the waist and held her close to him. She leaned into him.
"Look at all the stars," she said. He began kissing her hair. He grinned.
"I don't see them. All I see is you," he replied. She laughed.
"You've used that line before," she said. He stopped kissing her hair.
"Ah, it must be the kids fault. I don't have time to think of any new lines," he said with a grin. She shivered and he rubbed her arms. The autumn air was growing colder.
"Do you think Chase is okay? Do you think Anna is safe?" She whispered. Zach held her tighter.
"Chase is strong. He'll be okay. I think that maybe he's even stronger than I was at that age," he replied. Cam turned around and stared into his eyes.
"What about Anna?" She said softly.
"She's safe at Gallagher. Their security measures are some of the best in the world. You know that. Besides, Rachel and Joe would never let anyone touch her," Zach replied with a laugh. Cammie chuckled, then became serious again.
"That's not what I'm worried about. When you're a teen you want to be free. What if the Academy's walls can't hold her?" Cam asked.
   "They will," Zach replied confidently.
"Are you sure about that? They sure didn't hold me," Cam whispered.
"Don't think about that," Zach said. He began kissing her again. "Let's just not think."
