Chapter 91: The Boy from the Shadows

("Hide me in the shadow of your wings." -Psalm 17:8)

   Annalise Goode made her way through the halls. She was being a chameleon. She was quiet. She had noticed a rift between Bree and Chase. The code black had just ended. She had a feeling that they had something to do with it. Anna came across a boy with bleach blonde hair and ice blue eyes sitting alone on a bench.
"Who are you?" She asked. The boy looked at her and cocked an eyebrow.
"Who are you?" He questioned back. She straightened out her uniform and smoothed down her hair.
"I'm Anna," she said as she stuck her chin to the air. Gallagher Girls were supposed to be snooty.
"Dallin," the boy said with a charming smile. Anna noticed how attractive he was.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"I'm here for Bree Morrison. We're very close friends," he said sweetly. Anna glared at him.
"I hope you're not trying to hit on her. Bree and my brother have always really liked each other," she said.
"You're Chase's sister?" Dallin asked with wide eyes.
"Yes I am," Anna said, trying her hardest to sound like a snob.
"Tough," Dallin said. Anna's face fell and she glared at him.
"Chase was the top of his class at his old school. He's a natural at everything. He's one of the strongest guys I know," Anna said, coming to her brothers defense.
"I'm sure," Dallin said sarcastically.
Anna studied Dallin. She got weird vibes from him. He was a charmer, that was obvious. He was also very attractive. Something about him just felt off. He seemed weird. Creepy, one might say. Anna got shivers down her spine being in the same room with him.
"I should go," Anna said, suddenly aware that the two were alone. Dallin grinned at her. He stood up and walked closer to her. Anna stepped back but Dallin moved in. He raised his hand and stroked it down the side of Anna's face. She shivered.
"It wad nice meeting you, love," he whispered into her ear. He kissed Anna's hand and emerged back into the shadows. Anna stood alone. She didn't understand what had just happened. She watched the shadows. She feared someone was lurking in them that shouldn't have been. She feared the worst from Dallin.

(Just a super short chapter to get Anna's perspective in it. A lot more will be coming from Bree and Chase.)
