Chase Goode and Bree Morrison were quiet for a lot of their drive. They didn't want to catch up when they were driving with 3 spies in training in the back. The sun was setting and the girls were trying to sleep. Chase had switched Bree spots driving a couple hours back.
"You should try to get some sleep, Gallagher Girl," he whispered. He was still clinging to Bree's hand. He was afraid that if he let go he would never see her again.
"I'm not tired," Bree whispered back. Chase gave her a skeptical look.
"When was the last time you slept?" He asked. Bree shrugged. Chase knew that she didn't remember. He sighed and tried to focus on the road. Soon his parents would be getting a call that he was no longer at Blackthorne. They probably already knew that Anna was missing. They would be able to piece together what happened.
"How was your summer?" Bree finally asked.
"It was good, yours?" He asked back.
"It was fine. I kept myself busy working," she said casually.
"Oh really? Where do you work?" He felt so awkward. He wanted things to go back to the way that they used to be. The way things were before Bree knew what his school was.
"At the pool," Bree replied. "I'm a lifeguard." Chase nodded, he wasn't surprised. Silence coursed between them. Bree finally spoke again. "You know you could have told me, right? I wouldn't have judged you."
"I know you wouldn't have it's just... you deserve better," he sighed. She gave him a funny looking glance, so he elaborated. "You deserve the very best type of person. You deserve someone as pure as you and I'm not. I didn't want to ruin you."
"Ruin me?" Bree exclaimed. "Chase I've been ruined without you! You're all I think about! I can hardly eat or sleep. I just have these nightmares and I keep waking up expecting you to be there and you're not."
"I tried to come see you over the summer," Chase admitted. "But my parents are highly trained operatives, so I hardly made it a block."
"I heard," Bree said with a grin.
"Thank you, by the way," Chase said.
  "For what?"
"Delivering my message and coming to get me. I don't think they could have done it without you," Chase admitted. Bree nodded. "This was dangerous. I didn't want you taking that risk."
"You would do it for me," Bree said as she furrowed her brow. "Wouldn't you?"
"Of course," Chase said without hesitation. "I would do anything for you."
It felt good to be with Bree again. They could smile and enjoy each other's company. They could feel complete again.
"What now?" Bree asked. "Where will you stay? Blackthorne is going to try to find you."
"I don't know. My parents would let me stay with them, but I don't want to risk my siblings safety. I might go to a safe house. Between all of our family members we have quite a few," Chase replied.
  "I'll go with you."
  "No."
"We can keep each other safe!"
"And I can keep you safe by staying away from you!" Chase shouted. One of the sleeping girls rolled over. Chase lowered his voice. "I need to keep you safe." Chase and Bree hardly spoke the rest of the way to the Academy.
Chase drove Bree's car up the long path and parked it in the shed. He and Bree locked eyes, not wanting to leave each other.
"This is you girls' stop," he finally said. "I can walk from here and get a car. I'll leave yours here." Chase jumped as someone knocked on the window.
"Oh I don't think you'll be going anywhere, Chase Matthew," an angry voice said.
  Chase cringed. "Hi, grandma."

Chase Goode sat in his grandmothers office gripping a girls hand. Rachel had dismissed the other girls, but wanted to speak to Bree and Chase alone. Well, she wanted to speak to Chase alone. Chase refused to let Bree out of his sight. Joe Solomon sat at her desk.
"Your parents have been notified, Chase," Rachel began. "Now tell me, why did you make them come get you?"
"I had to," Chase replied. "They were going to make me a monster." Joe sat up straighter.
"What were they going to do?" Joe questioned.
"Blackthorne changed. There's not a choice on what you get to be. They're pushing us all a lot harder. They're training us to be an army. If I wanted to continue they were going to make me take the life of an innocent. If I couldn't do it then they would kill me. I had to leave," Chase explained. "I already told grandma." Joe cringed. "Did they make you do that?" His eyes were wide.
"No," Joe said with a sad chuckle. He shook his head and hung it. He whispered when he spoke again. "The circle made me do it."
"And I have notified the trustees. They agree that it's not safe for you to go back. I've been given permission to let you finish your semester with us. I hope you know that even though I am happy you are here, I am very angry with you. You took your sister away from her school. Away from her bodyguard," Rachel stressed.
"She wasn't safe with Kira anyways," Bree backed him up. The door opened and Townsend walked in.
"Papa Ed?" Chase said confused. Ed grinned.
"Sorry, I got your parents tangled up into a different mission. Now Rachel will you please show me the alumni list?" He asked turning to Rachel.
"Those are highly classified, Edward!" Rachel exclaimed.
"I need to see it. I think the descendant was born from a Gallagher alumni. I'm this close," he held his fingers inches apart. Rachel shook her head no. Townsend turned to Bree and glared. "Don't you have evil associates to meet up with?" Bree rolled her eyes. "Seriously, when are you going to admit your involvement?" The door opened again and a very angry looking Kira walked in.
"Bree Morrison, I hope you're happy," she spat. "You took Annalise out of my protection!"
"So?" Bree snapped back. "If push came to shove we all know that you wouldn't protect her!"
"Ms. Morrison, you can stop playing the innocent act. I know that you're involved in this!" Townsend added. Bree rolled her eyes.
"Why do you hate me?" Bree asked. Townsend scoffed.
"I don't hate you. I just don't trust you," he raised a finger at Kira. "I hate her." Kira glared at him.
"All of you stop!" Rachel shouted. "Chase, you need to be questioned again by me and write a report. Kira, go find Anna. Edward, well, you can just leave. Joe and Bree, don't you have a field trip to go on?"
Joe checked his watch and raised his eyebrows. He grabbed Bree's arm and ushered her out of the room. Chase started after them, but Rachel blocked the way. What felt like an hour later Rachel had finished questioning Chase and he finished his paperwork.
"Where did they go?" Chase asked.
"Oh the juniors and freshman are doing a simulation together. Don't worry, we took every precaution to make sure that Anna's safe. They're going to Boston," Rachel replied. Chase's face went ghostly white. Dots were connecting for him. The whispers in Blackthorne resurfaced. the rumors had truth to them. "What?" Rachel looked scared.
"They're going to kill her!" He cried. "Catherine knows!"
