Chapter 69: Catherine's Attack

Chase wasn't going to make it. He hijacked one of the helicopters from the Academy. He was a good pilot, but he was an hour behind everyone else. He was almost positive he wouldn't make it.
Chase was almost certain that their "simulation" wasn't what they expected. It was supposed to be a coveops final for the juniors and a simulation for the freshman. He had pieced together that his parents would be there. It had to have been the mission that papa Ed was talking about. Chase tracked them to a rooftop in Boston. He touched down and sprinted to the group of students.
"Chase?" His mother asked. She was standing arm in arm with her husband. The Gallagher Girls all looked at Chase like he was crazy. Chase heard the sound of a gun cocking. His mouth dropped as he saw that the gun was pointed at him.
"Don't move!" Kira Shane screamed as she pointed the gun at Chase's forehead. She held Anna behind her.
"Kira, stop!" Joe shouted. "That's my grandson!"
"I know that, Joseph!" Kira snapped. "But he's also Catherine's grandson. And there are things that he hasn't told us. Isn't that right, Chase?"
Chase stayed frozen. He held his hands up. "Everything I know doesn't help us. It was all unnecessary," Chase said slowly.
"What is she talking about?" Zach asked. He was moving in towards Kira.
"Did you know that Chase has met his dear grandmother?" Kira asked. "She's the one who got him to take that mission with Ed. The one where they murdered one of my partners!"
"Chase?" Cammie asked. She had shock written all over her face. "Say it's not true." Chase hung his head.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I had to." Bree looked confused. Chase knew that Bree wasn't sure who Catherine was.
"See! Now why don't I save you all the trouble and get rid of him now," Kira sneered.
"Put the gun down! Now!" Zach shouted. Everyone jumped. Zach's voice was so terrifying. The look in his eyes was enough to scare Joe Solomon.
"Yes, Kira, do put the gun down. You'll ruin this family reunion," a voice snickered as it emerged from the shadows. Kira kept her gun pointed to Chase. She eyed Catherine. Cammie and Zach sprinted for their daughter, but stopped when Kira fingered the trigger.
"Catherine," Joe whispered. Catherine walked around the group. She was eyeing them like prey.
"It's good to see you all again. I'm sorry that I couldn't find a time to pick up my present without it resulting in the deaths of little Gallagher Girls. But I do plan on getting what I want. Thank you for setting this up for me, sweetheart," Catherine said as she grinned at Chase.
"Chase?" Anna's voice cracked. "Why?" Her eyes were filled with tears. It looked like she was getting ready to accept her fate with Catherine.
"What? No! No, I'm not with her!" Chase shouted. Catherine frowned.
"But you knew that I was coming to Boston. Don't lie to them, tell them what you know," Catherine hissed. Chase shook his head.
"Tell us or I shoot!" Kira screamed.
"I knew that they were coming to Boston. I thought it wasn't for Anna because she was at the school. Then she left and no one told me. Papa Ed's search... Catherine found something," Chase admitted. Joe had ushered all of the Gallagher Girls inside.
"Well," Catherine said as tons of her goons surrounded her. "Get her!"
It happened fast. Kira turned her gun and fired at 3 goons that fell immediately. Zach and Cammie lunged in front of Anna and fought to keep everyone away. Joe ushered the Gallagher Girls inside. Chase leapt at Catherine. She circled him. Stalked him.
"Where's your pretty little girlfriend?" She cackled. Chase lunged and was hit as Catherine's leg flew up and drilled him in the stomach.
Cammie pulled a mans arms behind his back as Zach ran forwards and punched him. The goon crumbled to the ground like he was nothing. Zach and Cammie tried and failed to keep Anna back.
Anna was fighting off a sleeping spray that someone was trying to use on her. Chase watched as Anna used a move that he knew was forbidden.
Joe snapped a mans neck like it was nothing. Catherine grinned at Chase. "Did you know that I knew your grandpa Matthew? Did you know that we were in love? I can prove it," Catherine sneered. He knew that she lied. Chase twisted his body and got his hands around Catherine's neck. He watched her face turn red. This was it. He was going to kill her. He was seconds away from ending his grandmothers life when a body crashed into him. He looked up and saw Kira standing above him with her foot keeping him on the ground.
"This doesn't end today!" Kira cried. "He kills her and this doesn't end! It never ends! There will always be someone to take her place. Someone like you." Kira pointed her gun at Annalise.
"No!" Chase cried. Zach and Cammie tried to go to her, but were restrained by their attackers. Their face held a look of pure terror.
Chase cringed. He was about to watch his sister die. He prepared himself to scream when he saw someone step in front of the gun. Someone who didn't quiver in fear. She held a look of determination in her eye.
"What are you doing?" Kira hissed at her sister. Bree held her ground.
"You can't get to her without going through me," Bree said confidently. Chase gaped at her in awe. He was positive of it now. He was in love with Bree. Selfless, beautiful, kind Bree. Next time she asked he knew he would be able to give her the answer that she wanted.
"You won't get another chance like this," Catherine rasped. She turned to her goons who were moving in on Anna. "Don't get her." Catherine pointed to the beautiful blonde girl. "Get her!"
Chase's mouth dropped open. The realization hit him like a wrecking ball. What he had feared all along was true. He watched as a man jumped on Bree. He looked up, expecting Kira to shoot. She didn't. Kira fumbled with the gun like an idiot. She was sweating in her panic.
The man held a rag to Bree's mouth. Bree twisted and grabbed the mans arm. She used his arm to catapult herself into the sky where she did an aerial and touched down to the ground. Kira dropped the gun and Chase saw his opportunity. He rolled and let Kira crash to the ground. He barreled into the man that was running at Bree. He was grateful as his parents did the same.
"Bree!" Anna shouted as she ran towards her friend. Cammie grabbed Anna's hand and pushed her back. Cammie looked around and turned to Bree.
"You have one chance, go!" Cammie pointed to the window washing stand that was dangling off the roof. Bree sent a swift kick to her attacker and ran for Anna. She grabbed Anna's hand and together the girls jumped off the side of the building screaming.
Zach lunged at Kira and pinned her on the ground. Kira reached for her gun and Cammie kicked it away.
Joe chased Catherine, who was far out of their view by then. Joe turned back to Kira. "You're fired!"
Once the family was sure that they were safe, they got Anna and Bree down. Kira was in handcuffs. Anna was shaking and holding on to Bree for dear life. Bree still had terror in her eyes. On the helicopter ride home Chase realized that even though they were far out of danger, the terror would never really fade from Bree's eyes.
