(Cammie's 1st person)

I felt the jet slowly descend. We landed and I looked at Bex to see if she could feel the same tension in the air that I did. We stepped out of the jet and I saw Zach pacing back and forth. Him and Ed both did that when they were nervous. I noticed his twitching.

"So what's our plan?" I asked grabbing Zach's hand. He relaxed his shoulders when I did so.

"We recruited some help," Grant said with a grin. He offered his arm to Bex and she took it. Zach slid on his dark sunglasses. We all stared at the tall front gates of Blackthorne. It opened and Jonas came to greet us.

"Hey friends," he said with a smile. Zach nodded to him and Grant flashed him a smile. "I actually have a class to teach in 5 minutes, so all I can do is open the gates. You still remember the way to Headmaster Marcus's office?" Zach nodded. Jonas apologized for having to leave so early and headed to his classroom. Without a word Zach lead us all to a big building. Zach had been silent for the majority of the trip. We stood outside a door.

"Come in," a deep, raspy voice said. It sent chills up my spine. I shivered and Zach put a reassuring hand on the small of my back. He guided me into the office. A huge man was sitting at a very large desk. His eyes bulged as he saw us. He jumped from his seat and ran to shake Zach's hand. "Zachary Goode!" Grant stepped through the door and the man threw his hand over to Grant. "And Grant Newman! My, what a surprise."

"Headmaster Marcus," Grant said with a nod. Zach stayed silent. Headmaster Marcus didn't look at Grant, though. He kept his eyes on Zach. I couldn't tell where Zach was looking, his sunglasses were too dark.

"What can I do for you?" He asked, keeping his gaze on Zach.

"We would like to be guest speakers. We're speaking as guests for Jonas's class and we were wondering if we could speak to some other classes," Grant lied.

"Your son is very impressive, Zachary. He's just as good as you were. Maybe even better. He has your aim," Marcus said, ignoring Grant. Marcus finally peeled his eyes from Zach and looked at me. "The famous Cameron Morgan." It didn't sound like he was impressed. Somehow it sounded like he was trying to belittle me.

"She actually goes by Cameron Goode now," Zach said strongly. I watched as all of his muscles ease and his confidence came back. Marcus raised his eyebrows to me.

"You're the mother of Chase? My how the tables have turned," Marcus chuckled. I had no idea what he was talking about. Something about the way that Zach stiffened made me scared to find out. "Abrielle will be so excited to see you." Lies.

"Sir?" Grant said. "About being guest speakers?" Marcus finally pulled his attention back.

"Ah, of course. You boys were some of the best students our Institute has ever seen. I think there are classes you can both speak to that would be most effective on our boys." Marcus got up and lead us out of the room. He took Grant and Bex to a hand on hand combat class. Zach and I started to follow them but Marcus shook his head. "I have a class that will be perfect for you."

We walked across Blackthorne's well manicured lawns. Boys ran by us chanting. I could tell that Zach knew where we were going. He had a drag in his steps.

"I'm sorry, sniping isn't my thing anymore. Perhaps I can speak to another class?" Zach asked. Marcus laughed.

"Oh, you'll speak to our sniper class, but only when Grant is with you. That's not where I'm taking you," he said. Something about that man's voice really creeped me out.

We stepped into a long hallway. I saw targets at the end and boys throwing knives at each target. Most of the boys missed a few. I watched as one target was full of knives hitting the bullseye. That kid didn't miss. I looked back to see who was throwing. My heart dropped.
