Jason watched from the trees, lying on his stomach on the freezing ground. In the distance he can see Wayne Manor. He focuses in the binoculars that he holds to his eyes. In the back yard of Wayne Manor he could see an elaborate toddler wonderland, done only as Bruce Wayne could. Ball pen. Jumpy house. Sandbox. Swings. Slides. A replica Wayne Manor Dollhouse. Every delight a little one could ever want. He could almost envision Alfred pushing her in a swing or having a tea party.
Jason has a feeling deep in the pit of his stomach that Bruce knew that child belonged to him. He just had to know. Despite the fact that Bruce was fucking the clown, he'd never go to such extremes for just anyones kid. But uncle Bruce just might. Jason was convinced that Bruce knew. Bruce knew he was a father and didn't even fucking tell him. Jason has never felt more bitter towards Bruce. He had proven yet again that the Joker was more important to him than Jason.
Jason watches as bright green appears in the binoculars. The Joker. In all his hideous, murdering glory. And in his arms, Lucy. Jason's daughter. Jason could feel his heart start pounding in his chest. His grip on the binoculars tightened. He watches as that psycho plays and laughs with his child. That son of a bitch. She was his. She deserved anything other than the Joker. And Harley was just as bad. Jason would make them pay for keeping his child from him. He'd make them all pay.
The Joker throws Lucy up into the air and catches her. Jason could see her laugh and clap her tiny hands together. Jason could almost hear the Joker's maniacal laugh. Jason watched as the Joker steps up the ladder of the slide while holding Lucy in one arm. He sits on the slide and seats Lucy in his lap. They go down the slide and Lucy excitedly claps her little hands again when they reach the bottom. The Joker stands and starts up the ladder again.
Jason hated to admit it, but that son of a bitch actually looked like a real father. His eyes never once left Lucy. When he held her it looked as if he was so at ease. Like she wasn't the first child he has ever had anything to do with. Like he had all the experience in the world. Like he was some goddamn father of the year. Jason could hear his heart pounding in his head and ears. He was seething. Instinct told him to put a bullet through the clown's head from three hundred yards away. But it was too risky when he had a child so close to him.
Just then Jason could see Bruce appearing in the backyard. He was in a suit and tie and held a briefcase in his hand. Lucy climbs off the Joker's lap and waddles as she runs over to Bruce and wraps her arms around one of his legs. Bruce sits down his briefcase and scoops Lucy up into his arms. She puts both hands on his face and leans in the kiss him. The Joker reclined back as he sat at the end of the slide. He looks at Bruce and Lucy with a contented smile. Bruce walks over with Lucy. He hands her off to J and steals a kiss from him when he bends over. The kiss seems to last far too long for Jason.
He can feel bile rising up in his throat. It sickened him watching them. Every. Fucking. Time. There they were playing house together. With his daughter. He can't even accept that they were Lucy's uncle's. They weren't playing the part of uncle's right now. This was playing house. Jason swallows and tries to not vomit. Then he watches as Bruce walks back to his briefcase and picks it up. Jason knew he was going to the office. It's the only time Bruce ever carries a briefcase.
Jason realizes that catching Bruce in his office downtown would be the best opportunity to give him a piece of his mind. Bruce would be without his bat suit. That meant that Jason could kick his ass if it came down to that. It also meant that Bruce couldn't take him into custody. Jason quickly puts away the binoculars and goes deeper into the woods. He watches as Alfred drives past with Bruce in the back seat. He gives them a head start and jumps onto his bike. He cranks it, slides on a helmet and takes off.
When he got to Wayne Tower he parked his bike in the parking garage and took the private executive elevator to the top floor. He was able to bypass all the building security this way. He put on his Red Hood mask and pulls one if his guns. He flips off the safety and let's the gun dangle at his side. When the elevator opens he steps out and aims his gun at Bruce's secretary.
