Jason's closed eyelids twitch as he lays dreaming. The comfort of the bed only makes him dream deeper. Harley lies asleep in his arms, unaware of anything.

In a dimly lit room sat the Joker at a desk. His white skin seemed to be the only source of light in the room. A white hand sweeps through his green unkempt hair. A full glass of scotch sat in front of him. He's troubled. His chest aches in some sort of emotional pain.

His brothers

His brothers. His twin and Jason. They want to kill him. So much so that they're willing to work together to do just that. They're betraying him. Why did everyone he love always betray him? What had he done to make them hate him so much?

Even knowing what they were up to behind his back didn't erase his feelings for them. He's not denying that showing his feelings isn't something that comes naturally to him. But he truly does care for his siblings. Deep down where it counts.

His twin was and always would be his other half. His missing link. And no one but a twin could understand their bond to one another. Even before they knew of each other's existence, they were still somehow cosmically connected. Their pasts mirrored one another, unintentionally. They both graduated and received doctorates at the same early age. They both married at the same age. They had both loved and been with Ivy and Harley. They had met their soulmates, Alexis and Julia, at the same time.

But despite being identical and having so many similarities, they still had their own unique traits. It was no secret to the Joker that Jester was envious of his more prominent traits. But what the Joker had never told Jester, was that he was envious of his as well. The Joker always knew what to do, but Jester always knew just what to say. The Joker cut you apart with a knife but Jester could do it with only words. Jester has always wanted the kind of power the Joker has. However, he's never realized that his words could bring it. He had what it took to be even more of a manipulator than the Joker.

And then there was his baby brother Jason. The Joker had taught him everything's he knew. He taught him how to be an even greater version of himself. He opened up more to Jason than he ever had another living human being. He allowed him inside of his mind to see its dearkest and most recessed corners. All his secrets. His guilts and regrets. His dreams. His pain.

Jason might not have shared the womb with the Joker, but he truly was more like his identical twin than Jester. Jason has suffered many of the same tragedies that birthed the Joker. Neither knew the meaning of privaledged. Neither felt truly loved. And both were consumed by a rage that fueled their very existence.

A tear falls from the Joker's eye as he reaches for his glass of scotch. Maybe if he would have told them how happy he was to have found them both, they wouldn't be plotting to kill him. But it was too late now. Whatever he had done to them was done. But he wishes they didn't hate him so. He downs his drink and wipes away his tear.

Jason awakes, covered in sweat. His head raises just enough to see Harley asleep in his arms. He relaxes, realizing that he was merely having the Joker's dreams once more. He slides his arm out from under Harley and sits up on the edge of the bed. He couldn't help but feel J's heartbreak as if it were his own. He almost felt as if he himself were being... ungrateful. He did owe almost everything he was and had to the Joker. Including his daughter and Harley.
