The Joker started at the results on the laptop screen. There was no denying it now. Sasha Napier really was his and Jester's half sister. He pushes his green hair back with the swipe of his hand and sighs.
"I don't guess I need you to tell me the results, I know that sigh," Ace says as he watches on.
The Joker chews on his thumbnail for a moment as he thinks, "Well clearly she's going to need a security detail," he eventually says.
Ace smirks with a huff, "Security detail? J, she is security detail. Like very literally," he sees fit to remind him.
"That may be, but she is my blood," the Joker again sighs.
"Yeah?" Ace peers over at him, "Jason is your blood too, but you don't have security detail on him."
"Ace, this is different. Sasha is a woman for starters...she also seems to exhibit traits of an alcoholic. That means her reflexes are not as sharp as Jason's," the Joker explained.
"You technically don't have anyone to assign to her J," Ace shrugs.
"Of course I do, I have you," he rolls his eyes.
"I'm your security detail. Your's, Alexis's, and Jackson's when he gets here," Ace proudly lifts his chin just a hair more. "Adding a sister is above my pay grade," he jokes, unsure how his unpredictable boss might take it.
The Joker glares at him sideways, "If you were anyone else I'd shoot you for making that joke. As it is you may thank your lucky stars. And since we're in a recession I have no choice but to leave your pay grade as it is. However, hard times call for a few changes. Therefore, I have no choice but to take on the security detail of my darling Alexis and unborn son. You focus on Sasha."
"And who will be your security detail?" Ace's brows furrow.
"Are you forgetting that I used to be security detail myself?" The Joker's green brows go high up on his forehead, "And if my fractured memory serves me correctly, didn't I myself teach you how to be security??"
Ace smirks, "Funny how reliable that 'fractured' memory of yours is when you want it to be. I suppose we should just skip the part where I object to you being your own security, then you tell me who's boss and threaten my job security, and just go straight to following around your hit woman sister?"
The Joker smiles, "Wise man."
***************************
Jester's eyes crack open just a bit. The sensation of pins and needles radiates through his entire body. A moment later he realizes the feel of a rubber object in his mouth. He attempts to shove it out with his tongue but isn't able. He tries to move his hand to his mouth but soon realizes that he is restrained. He slightly raises his head for a better look. As he thought his body was heavily restrained to a table. He looks to his right and can see Arkham staff strapping down Julia onto a gurney besides him.
He tries to talk around the rubber gadget in his mouth and ask them what they were doing. But nothing is audible, only indecipherable mumbling exits him. However, his psychiatrist, Dr. Cash is soon approaching him. He looks down at him with his ever-blank expression.
"Mr. Joker, we here at Arkham Asylum have decided that you simply pose too much of a risk to the staff and patients here at this institution. Since you have a propensity for refusing your medication, we have no choice but to take more drastic measures to ensure the lives of the staff and patients. I simply can't allow you to escape on my watch Mr. Joker...or Mr. Jester... whichever you prefer is rather irrelevant, isn't it? That being said, you are about to receive electrical currents into your brain. The theory is that it will short out and reset things in there," he taps Jester's forehead. "Judging from your last series of documented shocks, they mellow you out and produce the same desired effect as the antipsychotics you refuse to take. Now of course there are side effects. But as the decider of what is best for you...well I'm afraid you leave me no choice. I feel the benefits will far outweigh the downside."
