The Joker sits in the back of a car with Frost driving him. His phone vibrated in his hand. His eyes fall down on it. It was a text from Alexis. It read:
I know we're not supposed to be communicating with one another right now, but it's imperative that I see you at once.
The Joker's brows furrow as he tries to imagine what must be so important. "Johnny, a change in plans. Take me to the penthouse."
"Are you sure sir?" Johnny looks at him in the rearview mirror. "You said the two of you must refrain from seeing one another right now."
"I know what I said, but Alexis says it's imperative," the Joker sighs.
"Yes sir," Frost nods and turns a corner in the direction of the penthouse.
When they got to the penthouse the Joker went up alone, leaving Johnny waiting with the car. The Joker felt something. Something he's not felt in a long time. He was nervous. But he can't, for the life of him, figure out why.
The Joker reaches the door and knocks. To which Alexis is quick to answer it. She opens the door with wide wild eyes. The Joker could tell something was wrong. But he still greets her with a smile, because he's genuinely happy to see her. Staying away from her was killing him.
He takes off his hat and embraces his love with a kiss, "Couldn't go any longer without me, hum?" He lovingly smiles at her as his thumb brushes over her bottom lip. "So what did you wish to see me about? I shouldn't stay long."
Alexis nervously nods, "Maybe you should sit down," she motions to the couch.
The Joker's forehead scrunches, "Maybe I should sit?" He questions and both hands cup her face, "Sitting seems to imply that you're going to deliver some bit of tragic information to me," his eyes search her face for answers.
"Y-yes, I know," Alexis nods as she stares deeply into his beautiful blue eyes.
"Baby, are you breaking up with me?" The Joker faintly asks as his hands fall from her face.
"What?" Alexis looks at him, "No," she shakes her head.
"Then spit it out honey, cause you're starting to make me quite nervous," he says eyeing her suspiciously.
"Please sit down," she motions to the couch.
"No thankyou. I prefer being on my feet at the moment," he defiantly turns his chin up. "Now, if you'll please, tell me whatever bad news is creating that reluctant look on your face, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't have all day." He swallows hard, truly fearful of whatever words followed.
Alexis's mouth parts but the words just don't want to come. She's uncertain of how the Joker will react to what she has to say. She fears he will be angry and blow up. "J..."
"Yes my love?" He stares, "Just tell me what's wrong."
She searches for the strength to tell him. She had to tell him, it wasn't something that she could keep a secret. Well, not forever. "I'm... pregnant," Alexis says and wills her eyes to look into his eyes again.
The Joker's eyes go wide wondering if he heard her right, "What?"
