Mirriella pov
"There's no way you actually bought me that." She squealed as she opened the box.
"Of course I bought you that. You wanted it, but I just couldn't afford it last year." I answered as I helped her tighten the match to fit her wrist.
"Thank you." She smiled as she hugged me.
"You're welcome bub." I smiled as I kissed her head. "Come on, we've gotta go or we'll miss the train down to the pier." I smiled as I took hers and Jaden's hand in mine.
"We're gonna go to the pier?" She asked.
"As if we don't go every year. Of course we going to the pier. And then we'll go to Sampson's for dinner, and then we'll get the train back here just in time for the bus to take you home to your dad." I smiled as we walked into the main platform area.
"Cool." She smiled as she walked up and to get the tickets.
"This is what a train station looks like?" Jaden asked as he looked around.
"Oh my god. You haven't lived Jaden. You really haven't. Are you seriously telling me you've never been in a goddamn train station?" I asked as I looked up at him.
"No I haven't. Well not ones like this anyway." He answered.
"Yeah, well this one can get quite disgusting. Just watch your step and don't touch anything. You'll probably contract something." I laughed as I turned to see Celia about to get the tickets.
"How long is the ride from here to the pier?" He asked.
"Uh, normally it's about ten minutes. It will ultimately depend on how many times we stop. But theoretically it won't take more than fifteen minutes." I shrugged.
"Fair enough." He answered.
"I got the tickets." Celia smiled as she walked over, handing one to me and one to Jaden.
"Thanks."
We got on the train and sat down. There weren't very many people on the train. Just the odd person every now and then. Celia had sat down and started telling us about what her school had been like.
"... and dads got a new girlfriend again." She stated randomly.
"Is she nice?" I asked her.
"She's alright. She smiles too much." She shrugged which made me and Jaden laugh.
"Well at least you know she's not a bad person." Jaden shrugged.
"Well that's true." She answered. "Look, you can see the wheel." She beamed as she got distracted by the sight.
"You see it every year Cee." I laughed as I turned my head to look at it as well.
"I know, but it's still exciting." She smiled.
We got off the train when it pulled up at the station. Celia grabbed our hands and ran towards the pier, almost falling once or twice, but still continued running. She showed Jaden all the stalls she used to go to, and then she started asking him loads of questions about his job.
"I own the company Redhursts that has buildings in a lot of different states." He answered simply.
"So you're like a billionaire then?" She asked him.
"Not quite, but close enough to it." He laughed out.
"Come on Celia, we've got to go to the diner otherwise you'll miss the bus back home." I called out as they were a little bit ahead of me.
"Okay." She cheered, running back and linking her arms with me.
I felt Jaden walk up on my right side and his hand snuck around my waist. His hand rested on my hip so he didn't knock Celia's arm. We continued to walk away from the pier until we got to Sampson's Diner. I'm really great friends with a lot of the people here, especially because it's been our tradition ever since Celia was five, meaning that I've been coming here religiously for over nine years.
"Hello my lovelies, I thought I'd be seeing you guys here tonight." Kimberly smiled as she saw us walk in.
"Hi Kimmy." Celia smiled.
Kimberly and her husband, John, own Sampson's diner. Her stepfathers last name was Sampson and so when they had the permission to build this place, she asked if they could honour him in the name. Of course John agreed because her stepfather was well known around here for doing what he did. He used to make a lot of money and donate it to the children's hospitals around here.
"I see you've got someone new with you this time. Table for three this year I'm assuming?" She asked as she picked out three menus.
"Yes, my boyfriend Jaden will be joining us this time." I smiled as she led us over to the table.
"How does everyone here know you?" He asked as she walked away.
"Mirri used to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Everyone knows her. And if they don't know her personally they know who she is." Celia explained.
"This is exactly what I told you earlier. I've lived here all my life, some of these people have pretty much raised me. Me and my brother are very well known around here. In some places they aren't for the best of reasons in the world, but we are known to ninety five percent of this town population." I shrugged.
We all ordered food pretty quickly considering that there wasn't actually a lot of people there today. Jaden ordered the macaroni cheese, Celia ordered the barbecue chicken wings, and I just ordered a side of cheesy fries because I wasn't actually that hungry.
"Can we get dessert?" Celia asked before the food had even come out from being cooked.
"Now what kind of aunt would I be if I didn't let you get dessert?" I asked her as she smiled wider.
"A very neglectful one." She answered back causing both me and Jaden to laugh.
"Why did I expect anything else from you?" I asked as I playfully shook my head and took a sip of my drink.
