Mirriella pov
"Hey."
A feeling flowed through my body as his voice travelled through my ears. I shut my eyes and squeezed them tight to try and get the memory of him gone. He's not here. It's not him.
I opened my eyes again and his scent was still there. I needed to turn around to prove I was imagining it. I sighed and slowly turned around to see him actually stood there. I didn't know what to do. The last time I saw him, he was screaming at me to leave his home. When I didn't speak, he took it upon himself to do it again.
"Can I sit?" He asked, pointing to the spot next to me.
"I mean, you can. But last I heard you hated me with every bone in your body." Petty, I know.
I heard him sigh as he started to move. He sat down next to me and rested his elbows on his knees as he bent them. He ran one hand through his hair before speaking again.
"Well, I lied."
"Heard that before." I mumbled as I looked straight ahead.
"Yeah, I know that. But this time I mean it." He answered, making me involuntarily scoff.
"I have a hard time believing that." I countered as he sighed.
"This isn't going to be easy." He mumbled.
"No Jaden. It's not going to be fucking easy. The last time I saw you, you told me you hated me. You told me you lied about ever loving. You told me that it was my fault my son died. You told me you never wanted to see me again. So no, I'm not just going to lie down and let you walk back into my life after two months of no contact." I answered him.
"Well I didn't mean it-" I took my hand and slapped his cheek. Hard. "Ow, what the fuck was that for?" He asked as his head moved.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." I answered mocking him while rolling my eyes.
"Fucking hell." He whispered under his breath, but not in an annoyed way, more so in a surprised way. "I really don't know what else I can do to show you I'm sorry." He admitted.
"I don't need your apology." I mumbled.
"Well then, what do you need?" He asked.
"For you to either shut the fuck up and watch the sunset with me. Or piss off so I can watch the sunset in peace." I answered as the sky started to turn different colours.
I heard him sigh, but he didn't move. We sat and watched as the sky's merged from blue to pink to orange to a soft wash of purple. When the winds picked up, I shivered. I think he noticed and moved closer to me. I felt him wrap an arm around me and I immediately felt warmer.
I could've pushed him away, but I didn't really want to. The reality is that I've missed him. Or at least his presence. I didn't want to make it easy for him to just walk back in if he's going to hurt me, but I also didn't know how long I could wait to have him back.
"Why do you like watching the sunsets so much?" He asked softly as his hand squeezed my waist.
"It's something I used to always do with my dad. He would take me up onto the hills to sit and watch the sunset. And then I would drag him out of bed early in the mornings to watch the sunrise." I answered as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"That's cute." He mumbled as I felt him lean his head on mine.
"Yeah." I agreed softly as my fingers played with the hem of his shirt unconsciously.
We sat there in silence as the sun continued to set until there was no light peaking out from the horizon. It wasn't long before the moon became more visible. I laid back and looked up at the moon and all the stars in the sky.
"What are you doing?" He asked as he looked behind him to fully see me.
"Star watching, look." I answered as I grabbed a fistful of his shirt and pulled him back to lay down.
"And why are you interested in this?" He asked as he lifted his head to look at me.
"I like looking at the constellations. My grandma used to always tell me that they tell you your future or your past." I answered.
"Oh yeah? Like what?" He asked.
"Look up at the sky, and what's the first constellation you see?" I instructed.
"Well those stars there kind of make a lower case b." He answered as he pointed up to where he was looking. "So what does that mean then?" He asked as he dropped his hand down.
"Means you're gonna have a few pregnancies in your future." I answered.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that anatomically possible." He pointed out which immediately made me roll my eyes as a small smile broke out.
"No, idiot. It just means that there are going to be a few pregnancies in your life. Not that you will be pregnant." I answered as he chuckled.
"I knew that. I just wanted to hear you call me an idiot." He admitted as he laid his head back again.
A soft smile formed on my lips as we laid there in silence. I felt my finger tips brush his before our hands interlocked. I breathed out in content as I slightly moved my head to rest on his shoulder.
The temperature dropped dramatically, and I knew he was getting cold but wouldn't say it, so I made up an excuse so we could leave. I told him I needed to help out Cecil tomorrow and so I had to go inside and sleep.
He helped me up and we walked down the hill together, our hands interlocked. When we got to the doors of my apartment complex he stopped and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back and inhaled deeply. He always smelt so good and I missed it. I felt him leave a small kiss on my head before pulling away from the hug and saying bye. I watched him walk off a little before I stopped him quickly.
"Hey Jaden." I called out to him.
"Yeah?" He asked as he turned around and faced me.
"I'm up there every night." Is the last thing I said to him before disappearing inside the building.
