Part 42

We looked at each other and I felt my heart break more and more into pieces. I wanted to stay so badly and I loved him to death but I had to put myself first. Without saying another word I turned around and walked to my car to leave. I called Emma because she lived the closest to Max. When she answered I didn't say anything I just started crying again.
"Come to me Nora, I'm home" Emma said and broke off the line. On the way to her house my tears had dried up but the moment I rang the doorbell and saw her worried face I started crying again as my heart continued to break. She took me inside and made me sit on the couch while she went to make a cup of tea. This gave me time to calm down again so that I could tell her what had happened.
Emma sat down next to me and handed the cup of tea "what happened?"
I took a deep breath before I started talking.
"Max cheated on me... with the girl from the Red Bull event"
"He did what?" She looked at me in disbelief
"I saw it with my own eyes and he didn't deny it"
"I'm really going to kill that boy" She said in an angry tone
"Don't worry Emma, ​​he is and will always be your brother and I'm just... idk"
She hugged me heartily "I'm so sorry"
"It is okay, I'll be going back to Lando later. I'm going to live with him again... although he doesn't know yet"
"Am I the first to know?"
I nodded before taking a sip of my tea.

Later that evening I flew back to England and rang the doorbell at my old house where I used to live with Lando, who apparently hadn't expected anyone anymore because everything was already dark inside. It was still quite early so I knew he wasn't asleep yet, he was streaming.
"Are you serious" I growled, quickly creating an account on Twitch and subscribing so I could say something in the chat.
NoraNorris: Open the door it's freezing!
I saw on the stream how Lando's facial expression changed and started laughing "oops" I heard him say before he disappeared from the screen. All the lights turned on in the house and you could hear him walking down the stairs, the door flew open and there stood a smiling Lando "what are you doing here? Come on in"
I smiled weakly and walked in with some suitcases, now Lando looked at me a bit confused.
"Let me help you with those suitcases" he took two and we went straight to my room
"So much luggage..." he remarked
"Max cheated on me" I said completely forgetting that the stream was still on Lando put his finger on my mouth but it was already too late.
"I'm going to close the stream first, then we'll talk"
I nodded and dropped onto the bed, now everyone who's watching the stream knew Max cheated..  great.
A little later Lando walked back into my room "he did what?"
I sat up and tried to hold back my tears "he cheated"
"That asshole ... wait until I see him" he growled as he sat down next to me
"The worst part is I saw it happen right in front of my eyes... and he didn't even try to  deny it "
My heart ached when I talked about it and again tears rolled down, why did I keep on crying for that boy. I hate it.
Lando and I talked about Max for several hours and it was now 3am.
"Try to get some sleep, we'll talk tomorrow," Lando said, standing up, planting a kiss in my hair and walking out of my room, leaving the door open a little.

Charles: Hey I was watching Lando's stream and heard what you said... are you okay?

Nora:  I'm fine, didn't realise the whole stream could hear us talk tho

Charles: Yeah well just so you know it's all over social media so yours probably will explode sooner or later

Nora: I'm sorry

Charles: Why are you sorry?

Nora: That I ignored your warning about Max, guess you were right

Charles: Don't worry, you're the nicest girl. You only see the good in people and I see the bad in them. That's matching actually... But go sleep now. If you want a shoulder to cry on or just have a chat, you're always welcome

The next morning I heard screaming from 2 heavy voices that woke me up. Max had come here, I carefully walked down where the two boys were arguing.
"Stop" I said when I was downstairs, they both looked at me and I nodded to Lando. He understood me immediately and went to the garden to leave us alone.
"Hey" he started
"Hi, what are you doing here"
"Just wanted to see you"
"To see me?"
"To talk to you"
"About what?"
"I don't know... us?"
"There's nothing to talk about" I shook my head and bit on the inside of my cheek.
"Come on you must have something you want to say to me" He said as he holds my hands
"I don't"
"Nora I know that's not true"
"I don't want to talk to you, because I don't think you want to hear what I have to say"
"You're wrong, whatever you have to say I deserve it"
"Yes you do!"
"Then just say it already!"
"Fine! You fucking broke me! You broke my heart! And I hate you... because I still love you and I hate myself even more for it, happy now?"
"I'm so sorry Nora"
"But I get it Max. She's beautiful, she is kind... she probably gives you butterflies. She's so much more than I am so I get it"
"Nora stop, that's not true"
"I hope you're happy, but not like you were with me... that sounds selfish I know but I can't let you go"
"Nora please I know that I'm in the wrong, I just don't want to lose you"
"That's too late for that"
"Don't say that I've lost you Nora"
"Maybe it would be better if you would leave, so I can think"
He nodded understanding and walled back to the front door, as I followed him I tried to stay strong. There we were... standing at the door we looked at each other and I knew once that door closed I would break down in tears. There was a moment of silence before he kissed me on the cheek "I love you". As he said that he loved me he walked towards his car. How dared he to tell me now that he loved me, leaving me heartbroken and speechless Max left.
