Wednesday morning.

Avie never got one call or text from her boyfriend last night after he said they would talk more.

She called and texted him more times than she could count on her fingers.

Her morning was rough, waking up to nothing on her phone and heading straight to work. She didn't feel nauseous anymore. That was okay.

"Hello, Avery!" Sarah smiled wide as she walked into The Brew next to Kie.

"Avery?" Avie giggled. Only her mom and dad call her that.

"Hey, Avie." Kie sat on a bar stool.

"What brings you guys in at," Avie looked at the clock on the wall, "8 am? Early for you."

"Sarah wanted coffee." Kie answered.

"Of course she did." Avie smiled.

"How are you?" Sarah asked seriously.

Avie shrugged, "Not good."

"Does JJ know?" Kie asked.

Avie shook her head, "I haven't heard from him since I told him."

"What!?" Sarah said shocked.

"Seriously? That asshole." Kie looked off.

"He had work...then never called after work when I called and texted him a bunch of times." Avie said, "It's fair to say I didn't sleep well."

Sarah rolled her eyes and looked at her phone, "What a dick. He'll come around, Avie."

Kie nodded, "We'll take care of him, if not."

Avie smiled and rolled her eyes, "Sarah what's your order?"

Sarah was texting on her phone.

Kie hit her arm, "Sarah! Order."

"Oh, sorry. Texting John B. Umm, can I have a small iced coffee with oat milk, please?" Sarah smiled.

"Of course, my love." Avie smiled, "Kie?"

"Could I get hot chocolate?" Kie asked.

"In the middle of summer?" Avie questioned.

"I don't judge you, you don't judge me."

"Fair." Avie shrugged and put in their orders as they started getting out their wallets, "Leave it, guys. On the house."

"You sure?" Kie asked.

Avie loved giving to her friends. Couldn't give much to her siblings so had to do it somewhere.

She nodded and started making their drinks.

"Oh my god." Sarah looked at her phone.

"What?" Kie asked.

"JJ blacked out last night." Sarah spoke.

"I'm sorry, what?" Avie felt angry.

"John B said him and Pope had to take care of him. Said it was a guys night and wound up getting completely wasted."

Avie's nostrils flared.

"I'm sorry, Avie." Kie looked at her, noticing the tears welling up in her eyes.

She continued making their drinks as Sarah continued talking.

"JJ said his phone was dead in his truck and wouldn't let the guys call you."

"Do they know?" Avie asked.

"Doesn't seem like it." Sarah answered and locked her phone.

Avie handed the drinks to her friends.
