24. ride in the hot tub

The crew rode around in the Twinkie after school the following day. Avie and JJ didn't see each other much that day but for some reason, she felt a lot more relieved. She didn't feel tense or worried about running into him. She almost hoped she did but nope.

Avie sat on the bench of the Twinkie in leggings and, yet again, another over-sized t-shirt in attempt to hide her bump. Given her body type to begin with, it was pretty easy to hide the bump so far.

She sat between Pope and Kie as they all discussed the shit load of work they had for the first week as JJ sat on the floor across from Avie.

can i come over today? -A

JJ felt his phone buzz and read his message from Avie. He looked up at her through his eyebrows confused.

Avie didn't look at him.

JJ sighed and answered her text.

You can always come over -J

JJ fought the urge to respond with a sarcastic comment. He wanted to ask her why but he realized he wanted to know how the meeting with that family went. She wasn't giving any signs as to how it could have gone. That and JJ was desperate to finally be alone with her and maybe fix things. He was sure it would be okay.

Avie held back her smile as she read the text, thinking about how JJ always helped her even when they argued.

"JB, you don't gotta drop Avie off; she's gonna come by us." JJ told John B after interrupting a serious conversation of Harry Styles or Zayn Malik between Sarah and Kie.

"Rude." Kie mumbled and gave JJ a fake dirty look.

"Sadly, I can't come today. Delivering groceries after I finish all this homework." Pope responded.

JJ looked at him, "It wasn't an invite for everyone."

"Oof.." John B looked through the rearview mirror at his friends.

"JJ, that was uncalled for." Sarah turned to look at him.

"What? I'm just sayin'!" JJ chuckled.

Pope rolled his eyes, "Are you guys like good now?"

Avie looked at JJ who shrugged in response.

"We're fine." Avie answered.

"Are we?" JJ furrowed his eyebrows.

"Yes." Avie didn't tell him that they still had to talk. JJ was still confused. Hell, everyone in the van was confused.

"Interesting." Kie nodded as she looked between them.

Avie sighed as they pulled up to Sarah's house.

"Well, good luck you two." She told them.

"I'll need it." JJ answered as he looked down thinking about what was going to happen when Avie was over.

Avie kicked his leg from the bench.

Sarah giggled, "Bye guys." She gave John B a kiss goodbye but he insisted on walking her to the door. The long walk to the beloved Cameron mansion.

After a couple more stops of dropping Kie and Pope off, John B, JJ and Avie finally arrived at the chateau.

"Home sweet home." John B grinned at the awkward tension between the three of them.

Avie had barely been there the passed few weeks of being mad at JJ as she tried to avoid him.

John B stepped out of the front seat as JJ exited the back of the Twinkie. He grabbed Avie's backpack that was against the wall and held out his hand.
