Avie stood at the kitchen counter scrolling through her phone as she took a break from cleaning up after her messy daughter. She knew JJ would normally clean up when he got home but she always felt bad since it was not his mess.

She heard the front door unlock as she turned her head and saw JJ walk inside.

He smiled when he saw her, his eyes glistening in the dim kitchen light, "Hey, baby."

She smiled, happy to see her boyfriend come home in a good mood, "Hi, J." She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

He looked behind her at the stove clock as his eyebrows scrunched slightly, "She sleepin' already?"

"Mhm." Avie nodded, "She was tired; we went shopping today."

"Oh?" He raised his eyebrows with the corner of his lip turning up a bit, "And what did you two spend my paycheck on?"

"She bought herself some new clothes." She corrected him in a joking manner as she referred to her otherwise expensive daughter. She had a habit of taking Riv to look at new clothes and toys at least once a week and though JJ liked to joke about how they run his pockets empty, deep down he loved spending his money on his favorite girls, especially when he saw the smile on his daughter's face when she showed off her new items to her father. 

"Oh, it was Riv this time?" He chuckled.

"Mhm." Avie looked down at the shark tooth necklace that fell against his collar bones as she spoke.

"What else did I buy?" He asked and rested his hands on her waist, his thumbs gently rubbing her hip bones.

"You may have bought her mom a new bathing suit." She admitted and played with his necklace.

"Yeah?" He questioned, "Why don't you show me?"

She shrugged, "Riv's sleeping. How was work?"

"Hey, don't change the subject." JJ pouted and pulled her chest against his with his palm flat on her lower back, "But it was good."

She grinned up at him and kissed his cheek.

"How about you give me a peak at what will be under that new bathing suit?" He smirked and took his hand that was rubbing her hip bone to play with the strap of her tank top, his other hand still on her lower back.

Avie sucked in a breath and looked to their bedroom door before sighing at what she saw, "She's right there, J."

His eyebrows furrowed as he looked behind her and saw River taking small steps out of the room, his t-shirt in her hands. She had small circles under her tired eyes and her hair was sticking up in multiple spots, blond waves sitting right above her shoulders.

"Dada?" Her eyes squinted at the light.

JJ sighed and shook his head to pull his mind out of the gutter from moments before, "What's up, Riv? Why are you awake?" He walked over to her and lifted her up to sit her against his hip as he looked at her. He giggled at the tiredness evident in her eyes.

"Hi, Dada." She smiled shyly at him before tucking her head into his neck.

"C'mon, go back to sleep." He spoke quietly to her as he walked into the bedroom. He was glad to see his little girl but he couldn't deny the fact that he wanted to get back to what his intentions were before.

"I missed you, Dada." She mumbled as they entered the bedroom again. Avie giggled seeing how quick JJ was to want her to be sleeping again. Normally if she'd wake up to JJ he would let her stay awake for a few extra minutes or cuddle with her to take in the moment.
