Christopher's POV
"Good morning ma!" I gave her a big kiss on her cheek. "Looking beautiful!" She smiled at me with a puzzled expression on her face. I placed two wrapped boxes in front of her. "I come bearing gifts!""You are so bright and happy today! Did someone have a good night?" She poked my chest playfully.
Actually I slept on the floor after Court wrestled me out of the bed. I have a few kinks in my back. Next time I get on that bed, I'm having her. No appetizers this time, the whole meal! "A great night! Those are from Court."
I started looking for food. My stomach or rumbling.
"Didn't she cook you some breakfast honey?" She asked.
"No."
"Typical." My mother mattered to herself.
"I want to see what she bought you. Open them!"
She gave the boxes a suspicious look before she shrugged. She started with the smaller one. "Okay..."
"What did she buy you?" I don't think Court buys anyone gifts. This is interesting.
"Doughnuts from Tea Pot and Mug."
"What's that?"
"A quaint little tea place in town. It was nice. There's a note."
"What does it say?" I crammed my face next to my mom's to see if she's dropping threats. She is riddled with them lately.
Dear Lucille,
Six doughnuts for you.
Chris had six of these too and I had none.
I drank bitter coffee watching him eat.
I think I officially like coffee the way your ordered it.
Enjoy your breakfast.

Courtney."Now this is something you don't see everyday!" I smiled. She wasn't around when I woke up. She was picking up the doughnuts. "What is that about?"
My mom is still smiling to herself. "You had six of these and you're still hungry."
"This body is a food burning beast! Seriously, I'm hungry. Open this one."
She willingly opened the second gift. Before she got it out of the box, she started laughing. She laughed so much her eyes teared up. I took the box to confirm what is inside. I don't trust Court giving gifts to my mother. "Yellow gumboots." I am so confused!
Mom is still laughing. There's another note.
Dear Lucille,
I hope you don't mind but I decided to get these for you.
I had to wrestle an old lady for them.
She was not injured.
Just kidding. No one was wrestled.
I hope it brightens up your day.

Courtney"Am I missing something ma?"
"How is she this morning?" She wondered too.
"I don't know. It's hard to read Court."
"Have you had a housewarming party? I was thinking we should have a housewarming party at your house!"
"No!"
She frowned at me. "Why not? People have house warming parties for new houses all the time!"
"I have to ask Court."
"Why? Does she wear the pants in the house?" The Major's voice boomed when he joined us. "I want to see this house that emptied the trust fund! Party Lucille! This afternoon! Barbecue! Do you have a grill son?"
