Courtney's POV
"What are you reading?"

She patted the stack of magazines on the table. "I'm catching up on all the gossip of high society!" Mom has taken time off work to give her full attention to me. "What are you doing up? You should be resting."

"I can't sleep." I rubbed my hand over my belly. "I'm thinking about the day he comes out. I'm so scared."

"Come sit next to me." She invited me to occupy the seat next to her. "I understand how you feel. I was there once. How are things with Chris?"

"Things are alright."

"Look at this. It's one of those big society weddings I thought you would go for." I looked at the pictures. "Maybe you can still do it when you renew your vows! I know this place-"

"Mom... Mom, slow down. I'm not having a big party. I loved my wedding. It was small and beautiful. That is enough for me."

"But what about me?" She asked. "I want an excuse to show you off!"

"Fine. I'll think about it. No promises."

"Wait, is this Allegra?" She pointed at a picture on the gossip column.

"It is." I took the magazine from her. "It's Allegra and Chris."

They look cozy. My mind went back to the day I was shopping with Francis. That's the day I saw him kissing a girl and as much as I never saw her face it makes sense now. When I saw Allegra at the hospital I thought she looked familiar. Even as we spoke I couldn't shake it off. I was talking to Christopher's ex. "Oh no." I covered my mouth in shock.

"Oh no what? What?" She asked me.

I stared at my mother wondering whether to tell her.

Lucille said the DNA test was positive for a St Patrick. Tommy can't father children. I have been thinking about the little girl and who could be the father and now that Allegra is Christopher's ex, it makes sense. It all adds up.

I stood up from the chair.

"How could he not tell me Allegra is his ex?" I started with the easiest thing to say.

"Maybe he thought you knew." She spoke with a lot of uncertainty. "Come to think of it I understand why Lucille was so pissed during the barbecue. She was Christopher's ex and now she's Tommy's girlfriend! They have a baby!"

"Mom... Aubrey is not Tommy's baby."

"What are you talking about Court?"

"Aubrey is Christopher's daughter."

"What?" Dad dropped his bags on the floor. "What did you say?"

He does not look pleased.

"Leo..."

"Uh ah. Don't try to distract me." He gently pushed my mom aside to get to me. "What did you say about Chris?"

"He and Allegra used to date. Aubrey is his daughter." I explained.

"And he married you knowing damn well he fathered a child with another woman? Does the Major know? What sock game is this?" He questioned furiously. "I'll have words with the Major."

"Leo!" My mom called him. "I'll talk to him."

She ran after him and I sat on the chair looking at the picture of Chris and Allegra. Why didn't he tell me that Allegra's is his ex girlfriend? All this time I have been foolishly interacting with his ex girlfriend.

Presently...
My mind is still fixed on the day I found out the connection Chris, Allegra and Aubrey share. They are a family.

I can't help but look at Bruce and wonder what will happen to our perfect little family when Chris figures it out. Does he know? Does he know she is his? Has Allegra told her? Does Tommy know?
