There is no way summer is getting hotter than this. I am totally contemplating walking around in a bikini if it gets even a degree hotter.
I should be in Bali with my family enjoying a vacation but I'm stuck at the St Patrick Group chasing after a big problem that I didn't catch in advance. When the retired Major General left his company in my hands, he backed off completely. He only calls when there's a problem and at the moment there is.
"Didn't I specifically ask you to sell to me if you choose to leave?" I questioned the man sweating more profusely than me.
"It's not like that Mrs St Patrick. I was pressed hard against the wall, I sold."
"Who did you sell to?"
"The Christos Foundation."
I scratched my head. I wiped quite some sweat from my forehead. "Excuse me? Who?"
The name is familiar but I can't say I am sure where I heard it.
"The Christos Foundation. I dealt with a guy called... I can't... His name is the name of a building."
I looked at my secretary helplessly. "The name of a building?"
"Those house is royals live in!"
"Palace? Who is named Palace?"
"Not a palace! More ancient like old stone buildings... The things kids build at the beach using sand!"
"Castle?" I asked.
"Yes! His name was Castle! He has shoulder long-" I walked out on him.
Christos is the name of Nathaniel Bale's father. Christos is Helena's dead husband. Helena Bale just bought a chunk of the St Patrick Group and is now a member of the board. That conniving woman has been playing me from the start. The retired Major General does not like Helena's business tactics. She is the queen of hostile take overs if not buying companies from under people's noses!
"Should I call anyone for you Mrs St Patrick?" She chased me down the hallway.
"Since Helena Bale thinks it's amusing to buy into people's companies without asking, I will show up at her office without an appointment."
I suddenly stopped when she stepped out of the elevator with a wry smile on her face. She's just as cold as Nate. "Hello Courtney. Why do grim?"
If a smile could be ripped from someone's face, I would.
"You screwed me over!"
"Don't use such graphic language. It's not personal. It's just business." She laughed at my expense. "Oof it's hot! Can't the St Patrick Group afford air conditioning?"
"It's getting fixed." I answered with gritted teeth.
"I will make my way to your office." She walked past me. "Are you coming?"
The man She bought from owned a chunk of the St Patrick Group. His family and the St Patricks go way back and they started the St Patrick Group generations ago. I don't understand why he sold. When I heard rumours he wanted to, I offered to buy him out to increase what the St Patricks own but he told me he's not selling. Next thing I know, the retired Major General is calling me in the middle of the night from Bali asking me why there's a shark on the ship. At first, I couldn't process. Having that conversation at the dead of night when I have b en startled out of my sleep didn't make anything sensible. It is when he was calling Helena the shark that I understood.
Chris, Bruce and James left for Bali early in the morning for our summer vacation. Lucille and the retired Major General are already there. I can't leave until I convince Helena Bale to give up the her share of the St Patrick Group. The retired Major General is scared she will eventually kick us out of the St Patrick Group. She famous for underhanded dirty tricks.
