Christopher's POV
I rubbed my temples trying to remember what my father is saying to me. I'm certain I did not sign the papers. I know I forgot about them because hours after I separated from Court, I realized I didn't have them. I had no intention of signing.

"Major, sorry. It's noisy here." The soldiers on the base ate on target practice. "Say that again."

"I'm congratulating you for signing the papers! Why did it take you that long to give them to Mr Finlay? We're you having second thoughts?"

"It must have slipped Court's mind. I left them with her."

"I'm happy you accepted the job. Now this old man can retire in peace."

"Try not to be too lazy Major."

I hanged up.

Phone calls aren't allowed but the Major knows how to pull strings. I wish he pulled enough strings to keep me back home with my wife.

How were the papers signed?

I don't understand.

I need to reach Court.

Tommy's POV
I couldn't contain my excitement when Mr Finlay, our family lawyer called to let me know that Christopher's deadline to hand over the papers is past.

I know Chris too well. He's not a desk job kind of guy. I'm not either but things have changed for me. I have to. I expect nothing less but the corner office at the St Patrick Group. I have done too much to not get what I want.

"Was she suspicious?" I asked Penny.

"Not that I noticed."

I eyed the beautiful woman lying on the bed. Her stomach is as flat as ever. When I heard Court is pregnant, I got really pissed! Christopher has everything going for him. His career in the army is moving up. He was my father's first choice for CEO and he will be the biological father of his child. "You should get used to wearing it often. The last thing we need is someone walking in and seeing you like this."

"I hate that thing! It's heavy!"

"And that is what it feels like when a mother carries a baby you shallow twit."

"I'm not the one shooting blanks!" I descended on her fast gripping her neck tightly. "Tom-" she tried to pry my hand off.

"You can easily be removed from the picture after you serve your purpose. I'm warning you. Watch what you say to me. Put on the damn thing!"

We have to live our lie until the woman whose baby we are adopting gives birth. The timing is perfect. Penny told my mother she's twelve weeks. The woman whose baby we are waiting for is also twelve weeks.

"I'm sorry."

She's in it for the money. She doesn't love me. I envy Chris because Courtney loves him. She's not in it for the money. He has the real deal.

"Mr Finlay is coming over. Try to look pregnant. He's my father's eyes and ears."

I left her in the bedroom to wait for the lawyer. Christopher's deadline has passed. I am taking over the St Patrick Group. This is the highlight of my day.

I watched out for him and as soon as he drove into my compound, I was at the door waiting for him. The Major General is a busy man. Even with a career in the army, the St Patrick Group means everything to him. Mr Finlay oversee strings on Gus behalf as he will do for me once I'm the new CEO.

"Thomas!" He shook my extended hand. "It's getting unusually windy out there. Ah! This is much better!" His English accent refuses to fade years after he relocated to America.
