Lucille's POV
I love folding laundry. It's such a strange hobby but I love it. I like to hum as I do so. If I'm not humming then I'm catching up on my favorite soap opera as I get through the endless pile. Most of it is mine.
In today's episode, Isabella finds out that Alejandro is having an affair with Maria! It's so juicy! I have been waiting all week for this episode and it's a perfect afternoon to watch it because I'm all alone with the laundry and s bowl of popcorn. It's the perfect afternoon.
Doorbell.
Darn it!
I can't exactly pause. If I leave the seat I'll miss my show. I'm not expecting anyone important.
Ignore.
I faced the screen to catch up with Isabella finally confronting Maria.
Doorbell.
Ignore.
Doorbell.
I bolted from the seat at lightning speed. I opened the door hurriedly. "What?" Tommy frowned at me. "You? Don't you have a key?"
"I lost-"
I left him and hurried back. I'm just in time for the confrontation. They are arguing. Maria isn't even sorry!
"Ma, can I talk to you?'
"Nope. Busy. Shut it." My eyes are glued to the TV. "Fight already! Give her a hook! Beat the shamelessness out of her Isabella!"
"Ma!" Tommy raised his voice. I faced him with a string of complaints at the top of my tongue. "Courtney is missing!"
I switched the TV off immediately. Isabella and Maria will be way he'd in a rerun. "My Court?"
"How many Courtneys do you know?"
"Since when?"
"Last night. Chris called me and we have pulled an all nighter looking for her. We have been to hospitals and morgues. We can't find her. Hasn't Chris told you?"
"No. Where is Bruce? He can't be left alone. I will pack an overnight bag and I'll go-"
"There's no need. Chris took Bruce to Allegra's."
I felt something snap in a violent way inside my mind. Tommy is intellectually gifted. It does not make Chris an idiot. He's smart too. The problem with Chris is his inability to notice manipulation. I don't know if my son looks for the good in people or he's just blind to it but Tommy tends to see through that shit because he does not trust anyone. Not even me. He's not telling me this for the sake of passing on information.
"What?"
"I told him to being Bruce here, to you, because you will know what to do. He said Allegra has a baby and she will know what to do."
"I ha e over thirty years experience in raising children. Some even to be foolish men! And he takes my grandson, Court's son to the other woman? Amanda!" I screamed. The maid came running. "Get me my purse! I'm going out."
"I think Allegra is up to no good. I can't tell that to Chris. He has this idea in his head that she's a good person. If you ask me, I'll pick Courtney over Allegra on any day because she's the devil we know. With Court, we know exactly what to expect."
I received my bag and took Tommy's hand. "Let's go get Bruce."
Leo's POV
"I don't see anything wrong with her moving back home with us. It's clear Chris isn't treating her right.""She's a married woman Leo! She made vows to stick to that man through hell and high water. She is running away and you are encouraging it!"
"She's my little girl. I can't help it if I'm inclined to save her from her mistakes!"
