Courtney's POV
"Whoa! It's an embassy!"I took a second to compose myself. "It is." I lowered the back window. "I'm here to see Ambassador Hale."
"You should come back tomorrow. It's not working hours."
"He's my father."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know." He informed the guards to open the gates.
"It's alright." At some point on this journey, I was fighting my tears violently. I have a strong feeling that when I see my dad, I won't be able to keep it together. "Wait here. I'll go inside and get some money. Don't go anywhere."
"I know it's non of my business but are you okay miss? You've been really quiet."
"I'm not okay. Thank you for your time."
I walked towards the security check. I got through. I saw my father at the front door in his pajamas. He looks confused. I started walking fast and eventually I started running. He wrapped his arms around me as soon as I reached him. "Courtney Love. What is it? Sweetheart, what is it?"
I sobbed uncontrollably with my face buried against his chest. My father and I fight and disagree but he is my strongest support system.
"Pay..." I pointed at the taxi. I wiped my eyes. "Please pay the taxi man. He was very helpful. He has chauffeured me around all day. I owe him a lot of money."
"I'll go get my wallet. Come inside."
I waved at the man waiting outside the taxi. He waved back. He is a trusting man. I entered the big house. It's never really home without my parents around.
Daddy rushed out to pay the man.
"Mom?" I called out as I walked around. "Mom?"
"She's not here sweetheart." He closed the door. "What's going on? Where is Bruce?"
"Back home." I sniffled. "I couldn't go home. But now I'm not sure if I should be here when Bruce isn't here."
"What's going on?" He rested his hands on my shoulders. "What happened."
"Chris is keeping things from me. He's lying to me." I began crying again. "He... you know Allegra?'
"I do."
"That woman... She has... He was supposed to..." I'm stopping in between words to cry my eyes out. I wiped my eyes and took a second to calm down. "Chris was supposed to fight for custody of Aubrey. That was the plan. I convinced myself it will work. I was ready to accept that she will live with us and then it turns out he settled things with her and they are settling it out of court and he is sharing Aubrey with her. He's going to her house every other day. He comes home late. He says it's work and he spends a total of 20 hours a week with Aubrey and an hour a week with Bruce! What the hell is that? Why is he doing that? Can't he see that Allegra is manipulating her way into his heart? Daddy I hate that woman!"
"Do you want to sit down?" I quickly sat on the sofa. He sat on the table. "Have you confronted him?"
"No. I came straight here." I avoided his gaze.
He raised my head up. His blue eyes are fierce. Daddy has had issues with Chris from the day he found out he fathered a child with another woman. In his opinion, Chris should not have married me but the reality is, Chris didn't know about Aubrey. It doesn't matter to daddy. He still does not like Chris.
"What do you plan to do princess?"
"That's the thing. I don't know." My head dropped again. "I don't know what to do. I came here to avoid him."
