It was our final performance, February of 26 and the sun was boiling at that time with our eye-catching flaming red shirts, black shorts ending mid-thigh, and knee-high socks with the girls having two braids on their heads.
I remember getting so antsy as if I was an ant on a boiling pan as well as looking forward to our performance.
"Ange, would you braid my hair?" Alex asked and I told her to come over and let her sit below me while I braid her hair into two.
I and Trishia are currently braiding other people's hair along with Diana. Now we only have half an hour left before the program begins.
Jamie was applying powder on her face while Jeline and Pauline were applying lip tint on their lips. Espe and the rest of our friends came out of the door and were already dressed. Because there are too many students occupying the bathroom they decided to just change behind the door and have someone hold up their shirt in front.
"Come on Timado, unity! We can do this!" Janmill shouted encouragement and we all yelled the word Unity.
Before long we left our classroom, walked down the muddy slope holding the hands of each other, and then showed our ID to the guard on the gate then entered.
There's already a line inside the court, a variety of colors are shown as well as designs incorporated into their batch t-shirts. Props, banners as well as costumes were presented to us, and not before long did we find ourselves sitting on the floor waiting for the others to finish their performance.
Some presented a movie, our friend Irish was the main lead into the short, horror story titled "Cabinet" and we all unanimously clapped at her wonderful performance. Though she was bullied and eventually died into the movie the overall quality was truly great.
I remember her waking up at five and filming, her classmate and their class president, Pamela expected a good quality short film and they executed it well.
Eric: Good luck with your performance! Don't worry, I'll take good pictures of you when you're up there
I smiled as I saw the message on my phone before stringing in some words.
Ange: I watched yours, you did great acting as the villain
I teased him since his class did a short film and he was one of the main villain's sidekicks which made me laugh. His acting was so stiff and it was clear that he wasn't a fan of it.
Eric: Stop! I don't wanna remember it anymore!
I laughed even more at him and finally stopped teasing him.
The others performed a dance incorporated with singing and the rest were just pure films.
Then it was our turn, ours contains singing, dancing and even acting in short, it was a mini-musical performance.
"We can do this, Aja!"
"Aja!"
We were in the back of the stage as our class president, Michelle, went to the place where the short movies were played. We couldn't watch it but we could hear the people murmuring, then the film was cut short indicating for Emil, our gay friend, and Jasmin to go to the stage. The song Titibo-tibo played where Jasmin shows her liking for Emil but then Piol came and Emil's attention went to him.
(AN: Titibo-tibo is a song by Moira where it talks about a tomboy being in love)
It was both comedic and lighthearted that we heard the laughter from the crowd.
Then the song "We're all in this together" came and we sprang to our positions. I was in the back along with my friends while Jeline and Pauline were at the front, they started the dance with the other six girls.
As I move my hands and feet to the beat I find myself smiling since Janmill told us to always smile. Then it was Piol who was in a white shirt acting like the male lead going to the center along with Berna.
Towards the end of the song, I finally took a deep breath of relief, my heart that was pounding incessantly earlier, calmed down and we sat down after that.
As we get to the backstage we all hugged each other and congratulated one another for our success.
