I was still unaccustomed waking up this early but I have to, the hours were the ones that we are counting in our OJT and we have to be early so we could have at least an allotted time. The weather turned dreary and cold, the gray clouds hover above the sky as it drops water which washed away the heat on the land.
As soon as I woke up I look at my phone and drew a smile, I can only chat with Eric at night but he would advise me to sleep early to avoid getting too tired.
Eric: Good morning, eat your breakfast and start your day with a smile!
Ange: I will, you too, make sure to eat and hydrate yourself
After our routine greetings to each other, I got down to the kitchen and put a plate full of rice and adobo from last night, and had half a coffee. Washed and dressed before locking the door, I grab my umbrella and it spread widely to accommodate my small figure.
Soon I reached the school, showed the guard my ID, and went down till I reach the gymnasium with several others who have also arrived. I chatted with Jamie and Kaye and waited for them to arrive.
"Ange, do you have a DTR? I forgot to grab one at my house" I heard Kaye said after she walks in my direction.
I took out the contents of my bag and pulled a DTR and gave it to her, I nodded while hearing her say thank you and waited for Jamie.
I watched teachers coming in, moving the things on their desks, and readying their bags. One of the teachers asks one student in the opposite direction from us to get her food in the canteen.
"Nak, can you watch my bag for me? I need to go to the bathroom" One female teacher says to us and we nodded and saw her back leaving.
"Will Jamie be late?" I ask Kaye beside me, it's not good if our time isn't aligned to the hours that we should finish.
"Speak of the devil and she shall appear"
"Excuse you I am not a devil, I'm a goddess," she says then proceeds to flip her hair back and posed in front of us.
"Okay goddess Jamie, let's go and let the head department sign our Daily time record"
Soon we saw against the window students pouring in, the clock strikes 8 and it was time for the flag ceremony and the national song of our country rang in all corners of the room. We put our right palm in our chest, stand up straight, and sang along with the song before sitting down.
"Angelica, Jamie, and Kaye you three would go to another class to teach the same lesson you taught to yesterday's class" The headteacher of the PE department instructed, and with that said, we were off to the next class.
"They better behave or else I'll curse them"
"Jamie! Do you want to be sent to the principal's office?" I look at her wide in the eye, I have always known that Jamie's temperament is like a firecracker and her mouth was as poisonous as that of a snake.
"I'll back you up to don't worry," Kaye said in passing and I almost want to send chilies to their mouth to stop them from talking.
"Yeah sure I'll just wait for you two to get demolished by the principal then" they only laugh at me and I resist the urge to roll my eyes.
...
Do you know the word Pabibo? Does it mean someone who's always a show-off? They are students that are Pabibo and they're the worst in terms of making everything a joke.
(AN: Pabibo is a filipino slang word that means someone who wants to show off, who wants to be famous but infamous, or someone who wants to be best in all things.)
"Marcus please sit down, you have already answered, thank you for that" I patiently say to the student who is now laughing with his friends at the back. They didn't even acknowledge me and just called me little Missy.
"Little missy I now know the answer!"
My brows furrowed and my lips began to tighten, I don't want to shame him in front of the class because I know those in their early teens are prideful and egocentric. They feel like they are the center of their world.
"Quiet down please!"
"You are the answer to my heart!" My veins throbbed in my forehead and Kaye, finally, has arrived and taken action.
"Okay kids stop with the game, it's not funny" she calmed down the class but of course those little troublemakers didn't want to make it that easy.
"Ha? Hotdog?" Then they erupted into laughter, half of the class burst into a chuckle while the rest looked at the back with a disgusted expression.
(AN: Ha? Hotdog
"Boys at the back, please exercise respect!" The president of the class yelled indignantly but the boys didn't heed his order and decided to laugh loudly at us.
Fortunately, before our patience that is already thinned out a snap, the cell rang and we didn't have the time to scold them anymore. With dark heavy expressions, we emitted impatience and annoyance as we left the class wishing to never return here again.
Our steps were faster and we soon reached the stone benches near the science faculty where our classmates sat. Jeline, Emil, and Georgia were checking out papers and we sat on the opposite of them.
"Oh? What happened to all of you? Why the angry faces?" We heard Espe asked and Kaye snorted as well as Jamie.
"We encountered a Pabibo," Kaye said in contempt, she still looks like she's pissed.
"Hmph! If it weren't for the bell I would've answered back at that awful boy!" Jamie then snorted coldly, her eyes seeping fire at this moment.
"Tsk, thankfully I didn't get to teach class, or else I would have already fought with them"
"No you'd curse them to death and we'll see you at the police station for abusing students," Georgia told Alex and the twins fought again.
Our expressions lightened up till we released a full-blown laugh, thankfully we didn't step on the line and still maintained our patience, or else we would be in a bad situation.
But who knows? Maybe we wouldn't be able to reign our tempers anymore.
