The college started, I felt the way I did when I first started school; my heart filled with both anxiety and giddiness that I talked to Eric for a whole hour.

"Goodbye and sweet dreams. I wish you luck on your first day!"

I smiled at his good wishes and wished him luck as well. Eric would be starting his first day in Cavite as well majoring in IT while I would start my first day as a Second Education student majoring in Filipino.

The night felt like a blink and when I woke up to prepare for my first day I was still a bit unaccustomed. Two years of waking up at 7 made my bones rustic- fortunately, I have set an alarm on my phone, or else I wouldn't be able to wake up in time.

Mom handed me my meal while drinking some coffee to get my system going. Then I take the new uniform I ironed yesterday to perfection; a light blue colored blouse paired with a navy blue pleated skirt that reaches below my knees. After tying the dark blue ribbon on my blouse I take my lunchbox and set off.

"Mom I'm leaving!"

"Good luck! You don't gave to come home so early, familiarize yourself first to your school" I giggle at the thought of familiarizing after all there wasn't that much to familiarize.

Soon I reached the school after a half-hour journey, saw my friends back in senior year, and went to join their group.

"Irish! I miss you!" I hug Irish who is also in the same course as I was and turn to Emil who is busy looking for handsome boys.

"There's so many like me!" I laughed at his disappointed face, after we've enrolled and the names of passers were passed Emil spent no second and searched the boy's name on Facebook.

He was bound to get disappointed since almost half or even more of the population of the boys are like him; part of the LGBTQ+.

"Is our adviser good?"

"I heard Ma'am Moren is nice from the second year," Kris says after all she was an extroverted person and knew now most of our classmates and some seniors.

"I wish they're all good"

In no time our door to our classroom opened, we waved goodbye to Espe, Alex, and Piol who is our neighbor, and entered our classroom. It wasn't big but it was enough to fit 45 of us; there was also a flat-screen TV in the center and a whiteboard with half a blackboard in the back.

I could hear the bustle in each classroom since the walls are wooden and are retractable. We sat with those we knew and not long after a professor came in and introduced herself as our adviser.

...

A month has passed after my first day of class and I can honestly say that it was tiring. Greatly exhausting unlike the busy days we've had in the third semester of grade 12. It was even more so since it was Buwan ng Wika and all the Filipino departments have their feet moving to finish the program.

(AN: Buwan ng Wika is a month-long annual observance in the Philippines held every August to promote the national language, Filipino

"Emil you can do it!"

"Go, Emil!"

"Emil crush them!"

We were all cheering for our friend Emil after he represents our whole for today's pageant. He was bare in his upper body, his traditional clothing could only cover his lower body and was painted with ink.

By the end of the show, we were exhausted and waited for the jeep to arrive. There were too many students waiting and it was now almost 7 in the evening; a lot of workers have already left their offices and so we had to wait for so long.

Thankfully we managed to get to a jeep that wasn't full and it was instantly a battle. I forgot about my weary body and jump into action.

"My feet hurt" I groaned out loud before letting my head fall to Irish's back. I closed my eyes, there's still half an hour left till I reach my home, I could sleep first.

But before I further went to dreamland I check my phone; there is still no call nor message from Eric.

There's something amiss in our relationship; it was not like the past and I do know that it is plausible to be different but never did I think it would be this early.

This whole month we've barely talk and if we did it was like reciting a text and we didn't even bother to video call each other. It's as if our relationship has plummeted; it was now like attending work that you scheduled for a time to call and greet each other then after that there was none.

I feel like we're just going through this relationship or what's left of it due to responsibility.

I hate this.

***
Fun fact: Emil did represent their class in the pageant and yes, it was so exhausting for the Filipino major when it was the Buwan of Wika and when it was our time it was just too tiring for me.
