Ange readied herself for today's activity. She brought out the batch t-shirt that her friend Georgia designed, a red shirt with a golden lion roaring on the lower left side of the shirt. Her eyes sparkle in delight after seeing Eric's message on her phone as she speeds up way downstairs.
"I'm leaving now ma!" Her voice crisp among the noise-filled the house as she goes back to turn the TV off as well as the electric fan.
A mop of messy hair came to her view as she slapped his back making him arch in pain. He opens his mouth and closed it in loss after seeing the happiness apparent in her brows.
"Come on" she held his hand tightly and swing it into the air, smiling all the way till they reach the terminal.
"I'm gonna cheer for you at your game but I hope you don't get to have a match with us"
"I didn't know that I have a cheerleader cheering for me" amused he flick her nose making her scratch his fingers.
"I'm serious, I'm gonna cheer for you but not when you have a match with my class"
The two of them enter the tricycle, her legs fit perfectly to the side while he was another matter. He was panting by the end of it, his brows furrowed as he held her hand. They moved further to the back until the new passengers entered, the music from the radio rang inside the small vehicle and they were off.
He almost wobbled as he get out of the tricycle, she held his hand tightly, and until he get some feeling on his legs did he let go.
"Come on old man, let's go!" She laughed seeing his dark expression and left him there with hopping steps.
The gymnasium has been already occupied by the whole senior students, it was jam-packed at that time that she has to point her sneakers to avoid stepping on people. She and Eric went on their ways as she sat down on the cold metal bars that's already rusting after seeing her friends waving at her.
"Write on the attendance list first" Jeline gave her one crumpled sheet of paper as she list her name and the time she got in here before passing it to their class president.
"It's not starting yet right?" After receiving a negative answer she continued. "Where are the others?"
"You know Emil he was still ok his home, Jamie was with her boyfriend and Espe said they're on their way" she remembered that Espe was always with Piol since they live in the same compound. They even thought that the two were a couple but Piol has a girlfriend, well an ex-girlfriend.
The program started just after Emil came, the rest of the class were here as we waited for the principal to open the program.
"... this will be your last year here in this school so I hope you will have fun and bring those memories you have here in your new journey through college. Now, let the program begin!"
...
Her feet were already aching by the time the program finishes, she has run-up to the stage countless times along with the class after their players came. Phones held up high to record the game as we get out first win in Tug of war.
Tomorrow would be basketball and volleyball, Eric would be playing by then, and hopefully, it won't collide with the class schedule.
"What's the matter with you?"
I have been talking to him for the last minutes when I realized that he didn't acknowledge or given a hum in response to my words.
"Hm? Nothing just thinking about tomorrow's match"
"Don't worry, it's just an informal match, it's not like it'll be aired on national television" I patted his back while I took a sip from the soft drinks I bought.
"I won't, well let me ask you a question" I nodded for him to go on. " Would you be able to continue your relationship with your lover if he's out of the country? Or that he is in a place that would take you days away to reach him? My friend would move out and his girlfriend doesn't want him to go and I don't know what advice to give him" he was able to say it calmly without his emotions leaking out of his words.
I didn't notice the tight grip he has on his bag nor the alight quiver of his eyes. I was thinking about his words, thinking it through, and analyzing the pros and cons and how they would greatly affect me.
Long-distance relationship couples are prone to breaking up in my opinion but there are some exceptions. Except that they were rare.
"I'm not sure, I haven't been into one. But no, I don't think I could carry through it"
It's hard to go through that even though I haven't experienced it. I could imagine the struggles that would arise on the relationship.
"Oh, any advice though?"
The two of us walk leisurely into the streets of pantok, not minding the busy people moving left and right almost bumping me. Eric took my shoulder as we get near to my place, I continued giving him some answers that could hopefully shed light to his friend's problems.
"If she really is the one then I suggest they work it out. Make some plans, create time for them to at least talk and decide on whatever decision they wanted to do"
"I'll relay it on him, thanks Ange" I just waved it off, it's normal for me to advise my friends it's just a bit weird doing that to Eric.
As I walk to the familiar path towards my home, I pinch Eric's sleeve and prevented him from leaving before taking him to an inconspicuous corner.
"Hey, I didn't know that you like this kind of thing" I blushed and slap him on his arm, my eyes wandering around the corner before finally executing my action.
Lips pressed into his warm cheeks, I felt my blood being congested into one place, to my cheeks and face. It was quick and I didn't stay for much longer or else I would want the ground to swallow me down.
"That's for tomorrow's game, good luck!" I never heard my voice be this tiny and embarrassed that I wanted to forget it in my mind.
Soon I left him in that place, his eyes looking blankly at the wall while he pressed his fingers into his cheeks. Then he broke out into a silly smile while I ran to my home with blushing cheeks and sweaty palms.
