Hopping down from the rock she had been on, Wendy kept low to the ground. Then she slowly started to crawl through the tall grass. With how small she was and how tall the grass was, all the young hawk could see was green. Different shades of green in fact. Above and below her too. Before long, she got lost.

"Wendy, the pinecone is over here," Tiberius muttered. Standing up, Wendy peered over the tall grass. Sure enough, there was the other hawk and the tree root and the pinecone. She was nowhere near any of them. Hanging her head, Wendy mumbled, "I failed, didn't I?"

"Nah, I think we need to try something different. You can't track a pinecone," Tiberius noted. An idea popped in his head. "I got it," he remarked, "I'll go hide and you 'hunt' me." Tilting her head to the side, Wendy mumbled, "Okay..." Giving her a gentle nudge, the old hawk reassured her, "Relax kid, this will be just like Hide and Eat."

"I love that game!" Wendy chirped, remembering that game. All little birds of prey played that game. Chuckling softly, Tiberius commented, "Good, you'll be a natural at this." With that, he walked away to go hide. Wendy, in the meantime, squeezed her yellow eyes shut and started counting to ten. Then she set off.

Padding silently through the grass, Wendy's eyes scanned the ground. She could see faint scratch marks in the dirt. It had to be from Tiberius, his talons digging up earth and leaving footprints behind. She could also catch his scent hanging in the air. As quiet as a mouse, she kept low and stalked her prey.

Waiting underneath a blackberry bush, Tiberius almost jumped out of his skin when something pounced on his tail. Glancing over his shoulder, he saw that it was only Wendy. "Wow! What did I tell ya kid, you're a natural!" he praised the younger red tailed hawk. Wendy blushed at the praise before asking, "Can we try it for real?"

"Alright kiddo, if you're up for it. Let's go."
