Shaking as she heard Tiberius say that, Wendy whimpered, "You... you don't think that... I have one of those... do you?" Her bright yellow eyes grew round with fear. Sighing heavily as he averted his gaze for a few brief seconds, Tiberius had a feeling that she was going to ask that question. And he was ninety nine percent sure that she had a tracking device on her. If they were to ever get away from their pursuers, they absolutely could not be tracked. Look over at Wendy, the old red tailed hawk murmured, "Let me check."

Gulping nervously, Wendy didn't say a word as she crept over to Tiberius. Standing still, she continued to tremble. In the meantime, the old hawk silently checked her neck for any signs of a slight bump that might indicate an implanted tracking device. Sure enough, there was one right above her left shoulder. Shuddering, the red tail bowed his head and closed his eyes. Hating himself for what he had to do, he mumbled quietly, "Lay down."

"Okay..." Wendy squeaked, her voice shaking while she did what she was told. Laying down on her left side facing her, Tiberius pulled the smaller hawk closer while he raised his sharpest talon. "Don't look..." he whispered softly. More terrified than ever now when she heard that, Wendy squeezed her eyes shut and pressed herself against the old hawk, her face buried into the feathers on his left shoulder. And she waited.

A loud shriek echoed throughout the forest.
